  1. I could see this going well for tampa, i've viewed their recent playoff success as being the best team at riding the line by being as close to taking a penalty which would be called in the the regular season but not ploffs, and Tanner Jeanot should fill that role very well. But damn thats a heafty fee for his services, I can't believe what nashville got, good for them

  2. That price for Jeannot is insane, but I get it. I understand his appeal, he's a young player who plays very physical and scored 25 goals just one season ago.

  3. I don’t understand everyone calling it a gross overpayment from Tampa. Foote consistently made terrible mistakes in the D-zone and could not skate to save his life, and the 3rd+ round draft picks are whatever. The trade essentially is Jeannot for a first rounder. The only problem is Tampa has very few draft picks for the next couple years.

  4. Hears Cal got traded immediately types in Hockey Guy to see if we got screwed or if we’re good

  5. You should see it like this: A potential 28th-32nd draft pick, a 60th+ and 90th+ for the rest. People were laughing at the Hagel trade last year, how did that turn out ?

  6. Coming from a bolts fan, a big initial shock to the system when you see 6 assets go out the door and 1 coming back. However i have full trust in JBB. Every questionable trade has turned out to be good thus far. He looks like a bloody genius for those hagel and paul deals last year, and tons of people were dogging him for those. With how much they gave up this is obviously someone they REALLY wanted to get, and to be on their roster going forward. He makes 800k and is an RFA after this year. This aint no rental

  7. Quite a haul for Nashville, not the least of which is Cal Foote. I’ve always liked him and think that might be the best part of this deal.

  8. As a Tampa fan I believe this was a massive overpayment. I think Cal Foote was developing into a 2nd/3rd line pair. He played physical and didnt make to many mistakes in my opinion. Sad to see him go. Jeanott is a nasty 3rd line grinder that we deeply needed. I understand why we traded for him but jesus christ an entire draft class for a 3rd liner is nuts. We need some help on the backend as well unless we got some studs coming up im unaware of.

  9. Crazy haul, east is stacking up
But I can't understand Toronto and teams giving away so many 1st or picks in drafts 2025 2026 far away.
It's like how CHL teams give up but when 14 bantam draft kids can develop later.

Jeannot has had impressive career so far playing until age limit whl, undrafted, echl, ahl and now nhl.
He also played in moose jaw with point and howden

  10. A lot of comments here are going to look pretty stupid come playoffs when Tampa is dumping Jeannott, Killorn, and Paul over the boards every 3rd shift grinding down the opponent on the cycle. This is also a hockey trade not a rental. This guy could easily sign for a Nick Paul type friendly cap hit to play on a winner for the long term.

  11. Its not bad at all. Nashville is taking a bad contract in Foote too. Its about right.

  12. I feel the same way about this trade. Half of me feels like Tampa always has a step ahead of everyone in trade deals but this one instinctively feels like a huge overpay. It might work out but the concerns can’t be denied.

  13. Tampa is like we better save some money on scouting since we always over cap in playoffs. Trade away all the picks

  14. I’m interested to see the video on Poile’s career as a GM, and the comments as well. I wonder how well liked he was, I feel like one GM in franchise history is pretty darn rare

  15. These “Nashville won the trade” comments are hilarious 😂 What did Nashville win? They got a defenseman in Cal Foote, a former first round pick who was riding the bench because Nick Perbix, a former sixth round pick was beating him out. Yeah, they received five draft picks but NO ONE knows who those picks will be for AND if they’ll amount to anything. Word is that Nashville wanted two first round picks for Jeannot. Proves how highly they thought of him.

  16. I think JB figures the Bolts are a deep playoff team for 2 more years. The top 10 protection on the 2025 1st is a little insurance, but he is planning on that pick being towards the bottom of round 1. I think that (2025) is the year he thinks Tampa finally has to blow it up and start over.

  17. TB has to get rid of their last 3 picks just for saying that they skipped a draft class. At some point it would become a pretty good trivia question.

  18. How much is too much if it wins you another cup? That's where Tampa is at. We're thinking current dynasty not future building. Bolts may never have this opportunity again regardless of draft picks.

  19. There's a couple things I don't get about this trade. 1. the odds of Jeannot bouncing back when he'll be getting even fewer minutes on a better team seems very low. 2. What was the negotiating process on this? I can't imagine Nashville demanding this high of a price tag, so did Tampa just straight up offer this?

  20. So Toronto is making all these splashy trades and this is Tampa's answer? Cal Foote and 5 draft picks for a 5 goal scorer? Geez might as well give the cup to Tampa now. What a joke.

  21. Definition of a good trade for both sides. Tampa gets a player under team control that is physical. They lost in the playoffs because they were pure skill, when they added toughness, they won. A 2025 first round draft pick at the bottom of the draft probably wont help them for 3-4 years. They've lost a lot, but still have the talent to win another cup.
