This should never have happened…the king shouldn't die like this…JONATHAN will still be a great player despite his bad form and loads of injuries, even if he is not that perfect, we still have a farm where the boys would love him, he would still stay with us with our boys…could you have traded CALA?nooo your decision was the FARM where he would recover…so why wasn't there a trade for CALA?and JONATHAN could easily finish the season of his life on the farm….GKG
As a die-hard CBJ fan, I am going to really miss both of these guys. They are not just solid players, but really good guys, as well. It hurts even more that we didn't even get to land Quick, whom I have always been a fan of.
The Kings picked up a couple of players we desperately wanted to keep in Columbus. In Gavrikov's case, he wanted a 5 to 6 year deal as he approaches age 28. The Jackets were only willing to offer 3. When a deal couldn't be reached, a trade became the only option. I can see both sides. This is Gavrikov's only chance at a big contract, so you can't blame him for holding out for term. As for CBJ's management, some bodies don't age well. A body can only block so many shots and dole out so many hits before it hits the wall. We know what Gavrikov is like at age 27, 28, 29 or 30, but what will he be like at age 31, 32 or 33? It was a risk Columbus wasn't willing to take. As for Korpisalo, he had a fantastic 2019-20 season and made the All star team. A hip injury the last two seasons diminished his performance and he struggled. In the meantime, the Jackets extended Elvis Merzlikins at 5 years and $5.5 million per. Right after the contract was signed, Merzlikins best friend Matisse Kivlieniks was killed in a fireworks accident and Elvis has struggled to deal with it as it has effected his play. Korpisalo had surgery to correct his hip problem and has returned to his old form. The Jackets would have preferred to keep him, but the Merzlikins contract is unmoveable right now unless his play improves, With Daniil Tarasov waiting in the wings, Korpisalo became the odd man out, even though the Jackets wanted to keep him over Merzlikins Gavrikov will not sign an extension as he intends to test the market this summer. That tells me there's a team he probably has a handshake agreement with once free agency begins. That team is offering the term he seeks, but that team was not willing to part with assets in order to acquire him as they are willing to wait until he becomes available this summer. Good luck Kings. I hope you have a deep playoff run with these two.
I miss them already. Korpi is healthy now and back to his amazing self. Can't wait to see them dominate in the playoffs. Never saw myself cheering for the Kings to win the cup, but I'm definitely cheering for them now!

Vlad pleasantly surprised me with his very good English and quite sophisticated speech for a Russian :D. He seems like a very nice guy.

Weird seeing them in Kings colors, bummer for us😊
Most comments seem to be from CBJ fans. We will miss them, but glad they are getting a chance at playoffs, especially Korpi
