About time.
Love Morganti right away
🚨Flyers fire general manager Fletcher
https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/flyers/flyers-fire-general-manager-chuck-fletcher
He is right.
Cannot wait to see what Briere can do
Yes god damn it Yes. About time they got rid of him. Now let's rebuild
Meanwhile the coach is retained ?..hmmm
Another old flyer😔 same sang and dance that’s why I don’t watch anymore👎 went through is with Clarke, Holmgren, hextall, and now briere 🙏🙏
About two years too late but at least they did it soon and not wait another 5 years like usual, and at least he didnt screw us as bad as he left the WIld.
I do not envy whoever is gonna have to try to pick up the pieces next, especially with the Philly fanbase being as impatient as they are.
Hextall was building something special, but the fans and the ownership group didnt feel like waiting so they rushed to hire Paul Holmgren 2.0.
Just hope Briere isn't another Yes man for the old regime In Philly. Feel like we need a more experienced guy as GM than a Rookie GM. But good luck Danny B and Good riddance Chuck
It's about damn time find a real hockey GM hire new medical staff hire people that know how to draft and evaluate and develop Talent
Finally it’s about time . I have been screaming for this since December
It’s funny people think this changes something 😂 same old same old. Comcast needs to sell if you want real change
As long as Comcast owns the team it doesn't matter who the GM is..
It all starts with this year's draft
The solution isn't quick, but it really isn't complicated…drafting is the key to everything. The Flyers shouldn't even think about signing a big free agent for a few years. They need to trim 25-30m from the cap, not add to it. For all the bad things Fletcher has done the best thing he did was not signing Gaudreau hands down.
The Flyers absolutely lack the catalyst for this team. The player or players that are threats night in and night out, the ones that create the chaos for others teams. They have some decent pieces to complement that catalyst, but not the spark. The ONLY way to get that is drafting, either with a mix of luck and finishing poorly over time or really pick a gem in the rough. I am not confident in the Flyers organization in doing either right now. Most likely they won't be lucky enough to get Bedard, but the job of the GM right now is to put them in better situations to obtain that player(s). Scoring by committee with average skill is the easiest path to mediocrity.
Signing a 27+ year old will never be the answer at the beginning. By the time the Flyers build around that player they will be in their 30's and on the down. You can try and trade for that player, but then the team has to gut their future that would be used to build around that player and back in the same situation.
1) They need to cut the cap dramatically either with smart trades or with time.
2) Draft much much better.
Only options the team has to get better.
Fletcher was terrible!
Way past time to make a GM change. 2 years late. Hope DB can turn out to be a great team builder and get the flyers back to the top. Chuck
Fletcher was the worst hire they ever made. Totally incompetent.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
WTF took so long?
This team is burdened by Chuck's long term contracts, overpaid journeymen, poor drafts, an even worse development program. Throw in mysterious injuries that put players out for months or years. A clueless training / medical / rehab staff. Their 5th best player may have been Sedlak, a waiver wire pickup for a bag of hockey pucks. He saw how dysfunctional this organization was, quit the team & went to play in Russia instead
Happy Day for the Flyers 🧡
Means nothing if the boys club in the front office aren't gone as well, whole organization needs to clean house.
Man that is one HUGE bald head!
Think about the horrible contracts he gave out or took on:
Risto
Sanheim
Coots
Ellis
Hayes
Atkinson
DeAngelo
Deslaurier
It's a start! Let's go Flyers!
Much more than that.. bad contract 2 .. Farbee Hayes Proverov bringing in shopping cart Ellis Risto so on .. Then the deadline he buried himself!
Sure let’s blame Comcast, losing since 2016. How about the 40 years of losing before that? They bought a dog **it organization and it continues to be dog **it
Worst GM in Philly sports history but the clowns above him who approved all these LT contracts he needs gone. I mean to give Sanhiem that deal this year was unbelievable. Considering all the money and assets wasted on D men
Disagree, you need someone from the outside, need new eyes to look over the team to see what they have. Don't trade Carter Hart.
The problem with the Giroux trade is it should have never needed to happen in the first place.
