False, but we accept the bullshit answer to the stupid question

  2. SDAisaleaf

I personally believe Matthews can play hockey without being dragged along by Kerfoot

  3. SpicyP43905

    Keefe is just experimenting, right…right???

  4. JamesCurtis24

I mean whatever, keep trying and failing with Holl as a top pairing guy and Kerfoot as a top-line guy. Just get it through your skull that they are bottom line/pairing guys by playoff time.

I do think Keefe is trying to drive the point home to Bunting. He broke out last game, but I think he wants to see one more game from Bunting to show that he’s not going to just revert right back.

“.. and not score if his life depended on it”

Fuck I wish he could get rewarded just once ffs

I dont think he’s wrong about the breakouts and neutral zone, but I really dont like the idea of a guy who has missed wide open nets on the top offensive line. He has 0 finish but is on a line with arguably the best playmaker in the league. Short term its okay to experiment, but I dont think Kerfoot makes the line better.

Consider how last game against Edmonton went I think these lines are going to be extremely unpredictable. Doesn’t hurt to try to baffle the other team, and all mathews needs is high energy wingers who can bang around the boards and get puck possession (I miss hyman).

  8. uggh-daddy-please

    damn. this motherfucker stupid 💀

  9. I’m starting to think Keefe is doing this to build Kerfoot’s confidence back up — if M&M can work their magic maybe Kerfoot can finally break out of his slump

What’s the definition of insanity again?

Love all the reddit professionals in here, wish you guys were behind the bench!

Stfu. Hes garbage and u just like him personally … just be honest. If you as a coach watch Kerfoot play nightly and say oh yea that guy can handle the puck… you shouldnt be a coach. Should be hanging with the nerds in this fuckin sub that defend him for no reason other than hes a Leaf

  13. RexStardust

    Insert Dangle screaming “KERFOOT?!?!?”

  14. Murky-Smoke

Does anyone else want to see JT-AM-MM and then Bunts-ROR-Nylander for line 2?

    I sure do.

  15. apatcheeee

Matthews and Marner need a player that is willing to grind in the corners and infront of the net. To free them up from those responsibilities in the o-zone and generate offensive chances.

  16. nintendoleafsfan

If keefe was pinochio his nose would be touching the south pole after this comment

  17. howsshegoin

he should be a lock on that line. keefe is no fool. the shooting percentage rebound is inevitable and once they start going in he could suddenly be one of the most dangerous players in the NHL.

  18. Shawnaldo7575

Before he was a Leaf he was getting minutes on a line with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikka Rantanen. He’s versatile and can play on any line… pretty sure he’s been on all 4 lines this season.

I guess it’s good to experiment at this point of the season to prepare for the unknown in the playoffs.

But not at the risk of losing home ice advantage.

A precarious balance Keefe is doing here (at least I hope he is doing).

  20. JRocleafs

Mehhh nothing to see here. Just a coach using the regular season as pre season games because he has that opportunity.

Do I wish lines were more set in stone and we were rolling? Yes. Might as well oil up the machine and get things working properly before the playoffs.

Like I said in the daily free talk thread I’m curious what date Keefe has in mind where he’s going to start nailing down lines. Guys need some comfort and chemistry going into the playoffs

  21. SnooBooks9137

Starting to think Keefe might be an idiot

  22. electricaldan

Honestly, this doesn’t matter that much. Let’s see the lines come game 1 of playoffs. Kerfoots not on line 1.

  23. everyone hates on Kerfoot but he works his ass off and he does make plays… just not much comes out those plays in an offensive sense. He always has the defenders on there heels which makes him effective and gives his linemates more space. Just wish he would produced more offensive from that speed and pressure he creates on the ice. With that being said i still dunno if im convinced if he should play on the first line… but not a bad idea to try it out I guess. Tbh I think keefe switches things up too much.

  24. xtzferocity

Keefe just tell us you’re in over your head and have no idea what to do.

  25. BeerLeagueSnipes

But not to score a goal…and this is what you expect from players on the first line.

  26. Deluxechin

“Yea he has the ability to hold his stick with 2 hands, he even sometimes ties his own skates in the dressing room to make sure they stay on his feet so it makes sense to keep him there”

  27. CommanderTouchdown

Most frustrating aspect of Keefe’s tenure for me is how much he relies on Kerfoot to “shake things up.” Feels like anytime there’s a small slump in someone else’s game, Kerfoot gets their slot in the top six. But the dude simply cannot finish to save his life.

Leave him on the third line dude. That’s where he belongs.

Honestly thought when Jarnrock was added, Kerfoot would be expendable. He does everything Kerfoot does, but has an actual shot.

  28. thedoodsrugttv

Kerfoot can’t score a goal to save his life….concrete hands

  29. BornIn67

Sheldon Keefe trying to polish Dubas’s turd of a trade. Asking Marner to carry Kerfoot against top competition is a bridge too far. The right move would have been to trade Kerfoot and bring in a player that could help the Leafs win.

  30. CMDRShepardN7

Gotta give it to Kerf. He has won the trust of 2 coaches.

  31. wicked_crayfish

Keefe needs some fucking glasses boys.

  32. Current-Own

If I had a wish list going into the deadline, it would have included a top six scoring winger. Same for a lot of fans I imagine. Didn’t happen and here we are again with Kerfoot up there. Oooh my.

  33. swimbaitjesus

Just remember, we picked him or McCann

  34. This is what Babcock started to sound like near the end. Choosing ‘gud pros’ over results.
