The LA Kings did him so dirty..

This year is one of the craziest NHL deadlines I can remember that is seeing the end of an era and last night, after beating the Winnipeg Jets Jonathan Quick was informed he had been traded. The Chicago Blackhawks and the LA Kings traded Stanley Cups for a good 5 years that saw Patrick Kane and Jonathan Quick as THE guys. Kane is now officially a New York Ranger and Jonathan Quick is a Columbus Blue Jacket. I never thought I’d see the day. The way Quick was traded though, is controversial and wasn’t handled in the smoothest of ways. I cover Quicks career and the reality that is Professional sports in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. Not an L.A. "Burger" Kings fan (sorry, that stupid alt logo sticks in my mind's eye) but they could have handled this better with Quick… I did like catching games with him in net. Such a good goalie to watch. Gonna miss seeing him in a Kings jersey. He deserved a better send off. It seems that team management just don't care anymore about how to dispatch players in transactions. I don't buy that line about "It's a business" as an excuse for handling departures the right way for those that justify it…But, it's a business! 🙄

  2. I love how the blue jackets turned around and gave him right to the kings biggest competition. Serves them right for trading one of their best and oldest players to the worst team in the league with no warning to him.

  3. Quick did the LA Kings dirty by being the worst goaltender in the league.

  4. I hate whiny fan commentary related to facts of life….players decline while their salaries stifle a teams ability to function, so they get traded. Although your feelings are hurt, I suggest you get over it and stop whining. The team, if not better, is no worse for it.

  5. That sucks for closer. Sure, Quick might be ok with it in another 10 years but that sucks when you give your heart and soul to something and then you get tossed out with the bathwater. As someone who likes to finish what they start, this sucks to see. I feel for him.

  6. And he’s in Vegas. A division rival. Good job Blake. That’s Martinez, and Quick. Former Kings ending up in VGK. Blake is a truly idiotic GM.

  7. I was very shocked, but it's possible the management knew Columbus was planning on flipping Quick to another contender.

  8. Nobody has no idea how this trade came together.
It's a business decision at the end of the day.
Quickie will have his statue outside crypto and #32 retired.

  9. Out of respect you ask the veteran player who he wants to go to. You don’t just send him to a bottom feeder to close out his career. It is a business but you it’s also a small community and if players see how you treat a 16 year vet it may be a deciding factor in going there or not.

  10. It sucked, but here is the thing, when the Kings get to the playoffs they needed to have a clear #1, with Quick still on the team that isn't possible.

  11. I know this is old news but si6we're talking dick moves…. Mike yeo benching Keith yandle. It's up there in the top 10. It was just another Philly hockey disappointment to add to the list.

  12. fans are not in this “business”make zero money from it. so hate hearing that lame line trying to justify maneuvers that hurt players and fans.

  13. Should've just let him retire a King he was on the end of his career on the last year of his contract kinda fucked up considering Blake played with him at the beginning of his career

  14. Why the fuck is our management so terrible at this? Ripping the C from Brownie… Trading Quick… I think driving in LA traffic actually destroys your brain and causes this behavior. wtf

  15. Never followed the Kings but I know he was solid when he went against my Blackhawks years ago. My reaction initially was WTF that they sent him to Columbus but I’m glad he got traded again to Vegas and at least has a shot in the playoffs. He deserves that much. I think he’ll be a good fit.

  16. I mean he’s helping the team he loves get better, if he, or the rest of the team realizes yet, that’s a different story.

  17. he called quick a LEGEND HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH HOLY FUCK TOO FUNNY

  18. Worst part is we gave the Blue Jackets a 1st and a 3rd round pick to get two players that are UFA's at the end of this season. In the end we could get absolutely nothing for Quick and still gave away two picks. I think Blake shouldn't have made this move in all honesty the guy won us two cup's. Without him we're nowhere near a deep playoff team.

  19. Unfortunately the worst team had the assets LA needed. A goalie for the future and a LHD. Since Cal Peterson was a bust this season they needed to make a decision to compete. Blake has come out since and said they had multiple conversations prior to the trade and Quick had no intention of retiring. I love having JQ on the team but I do understand the trade, but the organization needed to improve the team and this was the best package available. He'll get his jersey retired and perhaps a statue out front but he'll be in the HOF for sure. But I can't say LA did him dirty, it's a business and if he wanted to not be traded he should have asked for a No Trade Clause or Limited Trade Clause in his contract.

  20. Quick is no longer an NHL goalie. The Kings had to trade Quick. They are a cup contender with average goal tending. Quick was awful. Father time is undefeated.

  21. I get it that they are trying to get something for a free agent to be. But players like Quick have a way to slam it into another gear come playoff time. I do think that the Kings have NOT improved their goaltending w Korpisalo. I really love the twist in all of this… Quick got traded to the 1st place team!! Ha! LOVED IT!!! A total F-U to Rob Blake.

I'm a Blues fan, so I don't really like any of these teams in these deals. But I am really hoping Vegas knocks out LA from the playoffs. This is one series that Quick could be started in without worry. GO VEGAS!!

  22. After 2012, Quick had nothing left to prove, but went on to win another cup anyway.

  23. Just remember this story when you see an average player receiving a contract he has no business receiving. It’s a business first and most front office’s don’t care about the human aspect…..unfortunately.

  24. Make A team bettet by trading away quick? They got a goalie that has been so unpredictable. And they lower the teams moral… I think this trade will bite them back

  25. Sick of people saying two opposite opinions can be right at the same time…. Stop being ridiculous
