I would say yes he's on the hot seat!
If he's not, he should be.
A lot will depend what return he can get for Dubois if he doesn't want to sign here, especially after trading Laine to get him.
in accomplishing the financial obligations and parameters Chipman stipulated to Cheveldayoff regarding his "spending" on the team, Chevy has to balance team effectiveness (how good the team he assembles for the coach) and financial obligation. BUT i think he kind of lost touch with the fanbase. When he talks with the media, he seems so "business-like" and cold.
Nah. Chevy will be with the Winnipeg Jets until the team inevitably sells to another market. Zero balls between two owners, zero balls on the GM, they are a perfect fit.
I do not believe that ownership has the ability to be bold…they hired the safest, lamest, blandest possible GM in the entire league and even doubled down on him after finding out that he has massive character flaws; eg. Chicago issues.
He definitely should be imo!!
With TNSE's rock solid commitment to mediocrity Chevy will have to fire himself, just like PoMo.

I know I am sick of Winnipeg being sh!t on! In the vein of, "oh Chevy has the hardest job to convince players to come here", and Trotz won't even be GM here even for lifetime free beer. These GMs are in the business of managing basically snowflakes! Yes they have put in a lot of hard work to get here but they are getting paid millions of dollars to play the game they love. Hockey was invented for Canadians to get through our tough winters (I think) and yes I have been grumpy since the all-stars were frolicking on the beach in Florida. Haha! It's time to stop the Winnipeg hate. Of course not blaming WST or Kenny just the vibe that's out there.

I would much rather watch a younger faster energetic team on the rise than this slow tired older team in decline with a GM over staying his welcome.
Chevy never gets fired. He's doing exactly what is expected of him. I think we are looking in the wrong place for the problem. The misguided assumption is that Chevy is being held to a standard that demands the best at all times and that the goal is always a cup run. If he doesn't perform to that standard his job is in jeopardy? If that were the case he would have been fired a long time ago. Just look at the Jets slide since 2018. Shouldn't that be enough? Yet he remains, with a 3 year extension, no less. But why? Could it be that a cup run is not a passion in the heart of the organization? Is that what we are missing? Is that what the players see when they ask for something to be done at trade deadline? Do they lack motivation because they don't feel the passion? Is Winnipeg a dead end to them because of that and is that the real reason others don't want to play here?
I watched the GM interviews on trade deadline day. I saw GM after GM display interest, enthusiasm and a passion for building their teams with a view toward achieving greater things. Chevy's interview was entirely different. I found him defensive and evasive, while he even took a crack at the over-expectations of fans displaying their concerns "with the advent of social media". He kept reiterating the limitations of what he can do instead of offering a vision. Who is imposing those limitations? Again, I believe he was doing exactly what is expected of him and as long as that's the case he will remain our GM, with the results never much different from what we see now.

I get that Jets fans are sulking and stamping their feet because they haven't won a cup by now but it's pretty hard to take it seriously when I am watching teams like Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal all in worse shape. Toronto??? Yes! Haven't won a goddam series in nearly 20 years ffs and if they don't this year they won't again for another 5 years, they have traded away nearly everything to get there. Jet 'fans' need to pull their heads out and look around the league before crying that Chevy needs to go. He has done a LOT of good for this team, the team playing in the smallest market in the NHL with one of the coldest, highest taxed cities in the league. Think about it ffs.
He won’t be going anywhere. This organization is way too slow on the uptake. Remember, Maurice wasn’t going anywhere. He had to quit. Loyalty is an admirable quality to have as a organization but sometimes it’s to there own detriment
Such a tough job getting players to come to the smallest market in Canada. That said, there have been a lot of strange moves since Charot, Trouba, Myers and Byfuglien vanished in about 6 months. Only to be replaced by Neil Pionk and Tucker Pooleman. There are so many shaky moves but losing Johnny Kovasevic for nothing, after 4 years of developing a 6'4 defenseman, is unconscionable. Essymont too?
I think rebuild has to happen scheifele and Hellebuyck are probably going to want long term last contracts they will be 30yrs old 7-8yrs maybe until 34 good but last years could be not good…
And U25 guys for next rebuild
Dubois,ect if this core is kept together you can't expect anything to change,I agree seats selling team will fall. A new group with hope for future is needed not another 7-8yrs mediocrity.
I Agree Andrew you've been saying for 1yr or longer you have to sell team to fans,ect that side how are you going to sell another year run it back most likely minus Dubois. With scheifele hellebuyck last years aging blake wheeler they haven't done it last 11yrs why would things change?
Imo at least if started young new core fans here know hockey unlike other markets and even if a player has flaws in game and under 23/24yrs old and sure a 34yr old could take that spot. But you'd be getting better pick in draft. And most fans would see potential or a future instead stagnant.

Chevaldayoff will have the job as long as he wants it. After what happened with Maurice I don’t understand having this discussion. Chipman is never going to fire him.
Chevy is a great Draft and develop guy. It’s a pretty valuable talent for a Winnipeg team that will never be able to sign a big name Free agent.
If I were his boss, this would be his last year.

Small market means nothing if you have a great team playing for the Cup! Player's want to win. Same core players=same results. Another thing: I hate the 'Cycle game'. Kills time and wastes energy and then you lose the puck. Attack the net like it's the dying seconds in the game and create movement and energy and spontaneity and the scorers will find themselves again.
Kevin Cheveldayoff's future will depend on how he handles pending free agents Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele, Connor Hellebuyck, Pierre-Luc Dubois. He needs to prepare for a rebuild and if a team blows him away with an offer then he needs to pull the trigger. He also needs to plan through the draft the Jets future. If he continues his good luck with 1st round selections that will go a long way in setting up our rebuild.
Well the background speaks for itself… Hus in a snowy WPG and Kenny in the heat of Florida… Chevy’s dealing with that everyday and we haven’t mentioned there is no state income tax in Florida either
