Pelletier is one of the smartest players I have seen, he just understands the game

It’s almost like they should be playing their young talent and not old washed up vets

He’s going to be captain of this team.

He’s the main reason I’m watching this brutal season through to the end and why I have hope for the future.
him and huberdeau *will* be a key part of our offense over the next couple seasons (and as a successful team, not this mediocrity), mark my words

Not to discredit or talk poorly about Pelletier, but has it really? This team has actually gotten slightly worse with him in the line up (0.400 vs 0.457 win%) with a sample size of 20 games at this point (8-8-4).
I don’t doubt for a single second that he should be with the team, is an impact player, will be even better as time goes on, and has excellent advanced statistics, but that’s all the Flames are right now: Good stats with a horrible record.
Him being “huge” for the Flames to me would mean he’s either changed the tide for the team, scored or been part of game winning plays, or activated one of our struggling “stars” in Huberdeau or Kadri or Lindholm. That hasn’t happened.
His presence has been quite refreshing but beyond even more fancy stats which get you 0 points in the standings, the team isn’t getting better results with him playing. Hopefully later this or next year all the positives he brings can translate into wins but that hasn’t happened quite yet.
