I’ve finally let the troll get in my head and have to respond. For the person that keeps calling Vasy ‘mid’, the Big Cat is currently ranked 6th in the league for Goals Saved ABOVE EXPECTED. TLDR; Vasy is still ELITE.

And if you ignore all the stats and just watch him play, he’s simply the best goalie in the league. The stats are nice too.

He’s definitely not mid, but he’s also not playing well right now. Slumps are real.

Anti-Vassers are precisely on par with anti-vaxers. Just denying reality for the sake of conveniently placing blame where it doesn’t belong.

I think that dude actually followed through with their threat of leaving the sub. The stats are definitely still appreciated though. I bet these stats get more impressive the further you expand the comparison’s timeline. That’s the true difference with Vasy, this is an “off” year for him and he’s still top 10.

Vasy’s stats are remarkably consistent over his entire career. The one blip has been short handed SV%, in past seasons he’s been a wall but that hasn’t happened this season unfortunately.

Other than that for this season his high danger, even strength, and PK SV% are solid, and he’s played 2nd most minutes and has faced 4th most shots out of all goalies. Sure he’s been better, but statistically not by much.

Vasy has always been, and will always be, ELITE. Full stop.

But can we also appreciate the “Holy Dog Shit What The Fuck Are In Those Wheaties” of a season by Linus Ullmark? I mean, GOD DAMN SON.

  8. He’s definitely having a few more goals get through than usual this season. And he’s still bailed the team out countless times. This is what happens when your god-tier goalie has a slight dip in form – people overreact like he’s finished.

SV%, he is above avg at .914. .920 or better is elite numbers. Effectively, you’d like .915 or better out of your goalie. Granted there are other stats that go in but SV% is the best stat for measuring individual goalie play while GAA is more conducive of the teams play. It’s definitely a scorer’s NHL right now with the amount of offense teams have but that’s where elite goalies steal games for you.

If you want “mid” look at #77 this season. My god he’s so disappointingly mediocre compared to his normal standard.

Vasys also played more hockey in the last 3 years than any other goalie. Dudes probably exhausted

I’m happy for Ullmark (even more if it wasn’t with Bruins), but I think it’s time for him to end this training camp we call NHL, and come back home to Modo Hockey
