  1. Travis and Bruce just were not good coaches and these players have underperformed, there was consistently a lack of effort and the missed assignments were infuriating to watch. Accountability is a beautiful concept.

  2. didn't they basically do the same thing last year, only earlier? I hope they get off to a better start next season.

  3. Sounds like Canucks needs to take a page from Chicago's book and run a fire sale to tank the record. Once you secure a superstar or two then rebuild around those players. It's no fun being in the 'not good enough to make the playoffs' zone for too long.

  4. Analytics prove this is sustainable unlike Boudreau’s bump… just as JR said would happen 🤷‍♂️. Facts

  5. Lego, if JT and Boeser were playing like this all year they still wouldnt be traded by now because the Canucks would likely be competing for a playoff spot. Miller is a season removed from 99 poiints, Pettersson has something like 110 points over his last 82 games. Kuzmenko has shown he is a legit 30+ goal scorer. Hughes has improved his defensive game and is a top 5 OFD in this league. Demko is a top 10 maybe top 5 goalie when healthy and at his best. Watching the last game against Dallas, you would think Vancouver was the top team in the conference and Dallas was a middler. This team has talent, just as much as many playoff teams.

Getting a high pick is nice, but getting a high pick means that your players arent playing well. For an old team on the decline like CHicago thats no big deal, but the Canucks arent an old team. Petey, Hughes, Demko, Brock, Garland, Kuzmenko, Podkolzin, Hoglander etc are all young to prime aged players. Is it really in the canucks best interest to tank the confidence of guys like Petey, Hughes and Demko so you can bring in a young player who may or may not help turn this team around. Petey is the franchise forward, we dont need Bedard. The success we had when Boudreau came in was no fluke, you dont post a 70% win ratio by accident, there are too many good teams to do that. The Canucks have good pieces, but sometimes its putting those pieces together that is the challenge.

I would take Petey having 100+ point seasons over the #1 pick any day. Also, if Petey continues to play like has been lately going forward, how much money will he cost to resign him? Likely 10+ million, then you have Miller, Larsson, Hughes on expensive contracts, could the canucks even afford to ice a competitive team around a guy like Bedard when he no doubt will be commanding a gargantuan salary for his post-ELC contract? It takes more than one guy to win a cup, if not than Edmonton would have won multiple times since McDavid. I think a lot of Canucks fans are trying to convince themselves that the Canucks arent as talented as they actually are so you dont feel guilty wanting this team to tank and wanting our young star players to play bad to make it happen. Knowing this fan base we could draft Bedard then he goes and scores 100+ points and there would be people saying that he is hurting our draft position. You only need the top picks if you dont have guys who can produce, the canucks have guys who can produce. We are not as talent starved as Chicago or Arizona. Is Pastrnak really that much better than Petey? Is Marchand really that much better then MIller? Is Macavoy really that much better than Hughes? Is Ullmark really that much better a goalie then Demko?… I dont think so, we are talented and had no business being in on Bedard at all this season. I would consider a 10-12 range pick a higher pick than the Canucks should have had going into this year considering the extremely talented players we have on pour roster.

Im excited for whoever we draft, wherever we draft him. And Im excited to see Petey, Demko, Hughes, etc playing well. The key will be carrying it over into next season, something we failed to do at the start of this season. Hopefully Tochett motivates these guys to stay at the top of their game during the offseason so hopefully those multiple comeback losses dont happen at the start of next season, for if not for our horrendous start we could absolutely be a playoff team right now.

Heres hoping the Canucks can prove that they dont need Bedard or Fantilli or whoever to win and be a playoff team next season.

  6. i guess we're coming up on another mushy middle draft pick this year unless they trade it away at the draft which wouldn't surprise me. if they are going for it with this group, hopefully they get another hronek calibre player.

  7. I am glad to see the team regaining their confidence and as Miller stated "its fun to go to the rink"

Though, i still do wish this maybe happened over the summer rather than now lol.
As you said and all canucks fans know, this trend is pretty annoying. Wont do anything regarding the playoffs, but sets us back in the draft loto

  8. Playoffs are no longer a possibility and the pressure is off. Team is playing loose and having fun. Will they replicate this next year, when it matters? I hope so, but we've all seen this movie play out too many times before.

  9. We've seen this "movie" so many times from the Canucks over the years and this year too. When they appear to have a chance at a great player in the draft and have been playing badly before only to get a new coach and then start winning and losing out on a better pick in the draft, its disheartening. They have to stop making bad trades and paying huge contracts. I think Miller is an excellent player, but he's 30 years old and his new contract is way to expensive, so it is likely he will be traded before it kicks in. It also depends on what the Canucks do with Myers, OEL, Garland, and Boeser.

  10. Go Canucks. I believe in Tochett's ideas . Anybody notice our non player staff has a cup ring on their finger. Anyways watch it. Only curse is in 🍷 's heads.

  11. Oh I've got the inside scoop here. Its an ancient pre ice age curse uncovered from under the Canadian tundra that the canucks are only good when it doesn't matter. Mostly to spite the fan base.

  12. Don't worry they will be that is good enough maybe make the playoffs and not bad enough for a top 5 draft pick.

  13. TOCC is the Right Coach for this Team. If we can get 2 more Top 4 D and a Legit Top 3 Center the Futures Bright. I think we can get a 2 or 3 C in the Draft or a Top 4 D . Im Liking our 3 AHL D I think Wolanin is Legit and We are Deep for the Bottom Pairing. Buy out Oel and Trade the Giraffe at nexts years Deadline.

  14. Typical Canucks who dont have a clue which direction their heading. It frustrating to no end that this team is usually always stuck in draft lottery purgatory! Either trade away players and do a proper rebuild or add players to make your team a contender. No, the Canucks ownership enjoys perrinial self destruction so they can be the twenty second best team in the league! Get a freaking clue already!!!

  15. I can't take this team seriously. All the stuff they do right now doesn't really count because the season is practically dead.
