in terms of the pens success, i do not want him to see the ice ever again. in terms of him adding to his already wacky list of "achievements" i just want to see what else he can accomplish with less than 10 minutes of hockey a night.
It is really baffling at how far and how fast Carter fell. He was fine last year and the first couple months this season. He really hit the wall hard. He really should be sat, not only because he is bad, but maybe that is the only way we can salvage something from him. Maybe some rest will help him a bit?
I’m totally on board with what you are saying.
Honestly, if Carter is on the line up, and thinking along the lines of face offs, put jim on PP1 to take the draws inside the zone. He then stands in front of the net for 30-45 seconds where he can use his size and very limited skating.
I love how in OT, he gets put out there to lose the faceoff then skates straight to the bench
one can just hope that he gets scratched once Poehling returns
ideal lineup:
Forwards:
Guentzel – Crosby – Rust
Zucker – Malkin – Nylander
O'Connor – Granlund – Rakell
Poehling – Bonino – Archibald
Scratches: Carter, Heinen
Defense:
Pettersson Letang
Dumoulin Petry
Kulikov/Joseph Rutta
Scratches: Ruhwedel, kulikov/joseph
Nylander has deserved to remain, he's looked really good with Malkin and Zuck. He creates in the offensive end and has been sound in the defensive end. Moving Rakell down to the third line gives Granlund a legitimate scorer to play with and they have also looked good accompanied by DOC. No need other than injury for Carter or Heinen to draw back into the lineup for the remainder of the season or the playoffs. For the defense the top pair needs to remain. Dumoulin and Petry have been ok, last night wasn't a good look but nevertheless, defensive breakdowns with Carts on the ice could be attributed to their plus minus rating. Kulikov prior to injury has looked good on the third pair with Rutta, Kulikov moves the puck well is a solid skater and brings a physical presence. Potentially you could swap kulikov with Dumo on the second pair but the pens already experimented with the dumo Rutta pairing and it was god awful. Ideally, the pens should have moved Dumo earlier in the year to call up Ty Smith and get him some reps to establish himself as a Pittsburgh Penguin, but as we know that didn't happen and our roster is our roster. Not getting my hopes up for a Cinderella story type upset from the pens in the first round but you never know. Lots of re-tooling in the off – season to be done, I think every UFA needs to be sent packing (with the exception of Zucker or Jarry depending Tristan's his asking price), Carter needs to retire or be bought out. Its unfortunate that we're stuck with Rutta and Petry for 2 more years because of Ron Hextall's braindead moves. Penguins having $20 mil in upcoming cap space, hopefully they use it wisely.
While we're on the subject, why has Geno gotten a pass for doing the stupidest sh*t for 17+ yrs? Oh oh I know I know! waves hand frantically in class The club's all-time penalty leader gets a pass bc he's a scorer. Every.single.game I can count on 71 to make bad decisions and has he ever had to sit a shift?! Does no one speak russian to tell him to THINK before going out there? Think of ALL the penalty mins they've had to kill bc of 71. smh
As for 77, I agree. He used to be sick. No mas.
Carter is all washed up and over the hill. To retire is his only option.

There's still hope that Carter develops a mysterious allergic reaction to his equipment this offseason……
Talking about wasting the this year with the core. It's this year or next to really try to win the cup. It's definitely not looking like this year. I just want to pull my hair out over this.. ugh
Jeff carter needs to be a buyout. -4 in 9 minutes of play? What he there for warming the pine?? He should be in the ahl! Cost us the game in a way. Jarry has been sub par. Desmith needs to start against rangers.
I think the play right now is to call up players from WBS. Puustinen or Caggiula would be good options in my opinion. They’re gonna be fighting for jobs and playing with heart.
What Music? as in Chopin's Funeral March, or Amazing Grace?
