Sabres blow two goal lead to the Caps

A pivotal game in the standings ends in frustration for the Sabres, blowing a two goal lead in the third period, resulting in a shootout loss. Sneaky Joe recaps what went wrong down the stretch, but also gives props to Peyton Krebs for a phenomenal game.

Plus, an update on Devon Levi’s situation, and why there may be some cause for concern on that front.

  1. Perhaps Levi has no interest to live and pay taxes in NY State? I mean that seriously folks. Plus Rochester's crime rate is OFF The Charts. Perhaps he wants no part of that mess! Just a thought!

  2. Has anybody seen Dahlin? Just a soft team with no goaltending. I don't see it getting any better next year. We are waiting on growth the Sabres keep talking about. There is no urgency in the organization to win.

  3. I think Friedman is talking mush. Levi has even said himself he likes to be patient with his development. That’s why he went back to college after his insane first year. I seriously doubt he’d swear off Rochester. The only hang up I would see is maybe him wanting NHL games initially burn a year off his ELC (which if that’s the case, fine).

And as much as you could justifiably blame UPL for being Swiss cheese, it cannot be stated enough how horrific the team defense is.

  4. I would guess Levi is just flexing the leverage that he has to get a good situation. It makes sense, for the most part, to use the leverage when he has it to get the terms he wants. Your idea about trading UPL to clear room for him and get a bridge goalie makes some sense.

  5. I totally disagree with you. Devon Levi is ready now, and he thinks he’s ready now so let the kid play. Comrie is out. We were playing three goalies. Put Levi in the rotation, starting against the Islanders, and lets see how things go. I gotta feeling this could be a Cinderella story, a made for tv Disney event.

  6. Didn’t watch the game but, wow, Granato called a timeout to regroup the team and it……worked?!?!…….😦🤯…….wow!!! Literally I’ve been calling him to do that so many games this season and he hasn’t it’s about freaking time jeeeeez . So many times he could’ve done that and we might’ve regrouped and turned it around.

  7. Sorry disagree when you say you cant go with UPL and Levi next season. ( Comrie to Rochester) I think you can providing you drastically improve your Defence and Penalty kill. Get a veteran stay at home D man to partner Owen Power. Scott Mayfield NYI , Ranko Gudas FLA, Carson Soucy Sea, Gavrikov LA , and Dumba Minn will all be UFA this summer. Also get rid of Bryson asap. Jokiharju or Stillman fight it out for the 6th d man. Loser becomes 7th d man .
To improve the penalty kill bring in Adam Erne Det . Resign Jost but he becomes a spare forward . Dont resign Girgenson or okposso and replace them with Kulich and Savoie .
Also promote Michael Peca from Rochester to help with the forward group- penalty kill and definitely hire a new D coach !

  8. Why the fuck won't Levi just do what Power did … Get Power and Levi in a room with a giant stack of cash .. And don't let them out till hes got the Sabres jersey on .. Idc what it takes! … Let him finish the season in a Sabres jersey .. Maybe hes the exception to the goalie rule .. Let him in to show what hes got … Maybe he stands on his head and playes great
. if he looks like more of the same .. He'll get a needed bruised ego .. And have no problem playing with Malcome in Rochester…

  9. Yeah, suuuper smart!
    Trade UPL!? Wth?
The Kid has a bit to go, and it would be a mistake if we move off him… Levi or no Levi…
And this college kid thinks he's to good for the Amerks!?? (Apologies if I'm wrong)

  10. I freaking hate that a “makeup call” is accepted in the NHL. You can see that Tuch call coming a mile away after it was clear what happened on the Ovie penalty.
