Hahahahhah…. fuck shitsburgh!!!
Another solid effort from the guys and Shesty. Was strong. Definitely better defensively and it looks like the lines are gelling well. Strong in the 1st again which was nice to see. I really like how the 4th line is working. 2nd wasn’t too bad but wasn’t as solid as the 1st and 3rd. And it was a regulation win which we really needed. The refs seemed inclined to ignore a few things and let them just play. We face these schmoes again Saturday so let’s keep it up and get another 2 Saturday! LGR!!
Pens fans are some of the most pathetic individuals I’ve ever seen. I thrive off of their tears
Soon enough, literally the only thing the penguins will be good at is being baited by clean hits/accidental plays.
Looking forward to shesty, fox, Miller, kakko, laf and hopefully chytil to dump all over that franchise for years to come
Chris Kreider is really going to be the last #20 in New York Rangers history 🥹
Got a bonus birthday trip to the Garden and it didn’t dissapoint! Super fun game
I know stats say he’s a 7 d-man at best, but Ben Harpur’s been such a nice story.
I get a little bit concerned against him against speed, but he’s kept things simple and played to his strengths all year since his callup. Just a solid pro.
Didn’t catch the game, how did Chytil and Kakko look? Chytil hasn’t scored in the past 17 games and Kakko went 4 games without a shot on goal prior to tonight.
The Hork’s View from 222
* What the Yinzers? Lots of Pittsburgh fans in the Garden tonight. Glad they left disappointed!
* Team looked like it picked up right where it left off against the no-caps. Buzzing right from the start. Though, second period was a little lackluster, they did come back for the 3rd.
* Mika March Marches On. Buzzing hard and fast, and his line with Panarin and Tarasenko is looking solid.
* Speaking of, I think it was also Vova who had a diving stick block to prevent a breakaway. That was ***siiiiiiiiick!***
* Wasn’t thrilled to see Perry go down the way he did. Not sure what it was, but a stick did go *flying* when he got hurt.
* Also not thrilled about Motte getting hit up high. Was afraid that he was going to be out for the game, too, and that it was a revenge hit.
* Nope! Super Motte-o grabbed hisself a Super Mushroom and put one right in! Go Motte!
* Our fourth line is scary. They are SOLID. Very happy that we can run 4 lines that have the capability of scoring.
* Can I also just say, Jimmy Vesey is a New York Ranger for two more years on a better contract than you could honestly ask for?
* A ***lot*** of stolen pucks right, too. I was very happy with how we were snagging lose ones and just picking pockets.
* Power play was… A little anemic. Still getting the bugs out. They still need more indoctrination of “Shoot the puck, Barry, shoot the puck.”
* Kids line was quiet as far as the scoreboard goes, but Kakko knows how to hold that puck and draw penalties. Chytil had a few really close chances. Laffy as well. I think come playoffs, they will return with a vengeance.
* Though, I will say I think Laffy got away with a nice interference when he just decked one of the Pens. I forget who, but I love how Laffy is both happy to lucky and also piss and vinegar. Love it!
* Not to leave the Kane -Trocheck – Kreider line out. They’re messaging VERY well. They have good physicality and good skill mixed in a nice package.
* Igor is Igor again. Everyone worried about him can calm their… Well whatever you need to calm, you can calm it.
* And Mr. #1 Star, Christopher James Kreider, with two BEAUTIES tonight. Both you could consider empty netters. #29 and #30 may not be the 52 he put in last year, but he’s still there.
* Just to mention the defense, I was quite happy with them tonight. I’m sure I’m missing some blunders (Key made at least one where he held the puck too long and lost it) but overall, very solid. I still want Lindgren back, but I’m satisfied with our 7 defensemen for the playoffs.
* Got a shout-out from the dude in front of me for explaining the game. Brought a friend to his first game tonight so I apparently did a good job explaining everything to both of them.
Split the series thus far with the Pens, rocked the no-caps, one more against Yinzerville and then the Peds this Sunday. I’m not getting penisy, I promise, but I’m feeling good. Let’s fuckin’ go!
Lather,rinse, repeat on Saturday.
God I love beating the penguins
Got a bonus birthday trip to the Garden and it didn’t dissapoint! Super fun game
This team can play really loose explosive and fun hockey or defensively sound hockey and make their opponents pay for overcommitting right now.
I really do think eventually we’re going to see a team that plays a strong defensive game and can transition that into sustained offensive pressure. If we can find that by playoff time and Igor gets hot… watch out
I think these are the lines. Kane with Kreider Tro seems to click.
And line 1 has looked like the elite line you would expect when you see that line on paper.
Kids are actually rightfully the 3rd line. Still playing well. Hopefully they get the scoring touch back again soon.
4th line is a top tier.
Senko has a lot more snarl to his game than I realized…which is awesome.
Jarry kept it a game. That 1st period save on Panarin was unreal.
Millers turnover was really the only glaring low light of the game.
2nd goal had broken coverage…but they got pinned against the Crosby line…and were gassed.
Kreider and Mika burying pucks makes me happy.
Absolutely loving the Pens post game thread. Without question, pen fans are the whiniest bunch of bitches in the entire league. It’s amazing how they haven’t legitimately lost a game in two decades. It’s just that every other team cheats and the damn refs keep conspiring to screw them.
Big ups to Kane, one of the last to leave the arena and stopped to talk with fans for like 10 minutes.
Rangers hockey has resurrected this cold dead carcass
I also enjoyed the moment this game where Ben Harpur made a great defensive play to stop a huge scoring chance with a stick check, recover the puck, and then immediately give it back away
This had a playoff vibe to it. And the Rangers stepped up BIG TIME! Both goalies were on their game tonight very close game. and finally, breathe. As Sam said “I could breathe too!” When I said playing the Pens 3 times this week, plus the caps would lit a fire under their ass, boy it showed tonight.
Before my recap, let’s answer the Cadillac Trivia Question: Before tonight’s game, what happened the last time the Rangers and Penguins played at Madison Square Garden?
Joe: “I know this one Sam. Legend has it gives Penguins fans PTSD. Was it Game 7 First Round?” Revealed: >!https://youtu.be/vpc1pYLFt38 !< Sam: “AH! I was too excited!”
Now, the Rangers tonight played much, much better. Another night in Mika March on a beautiful bank pass from Bread, ohh baby! that’s was nice. Both teams were physical. The defense was very, very, good. But Key with a bad turnover which jolted the Penguins. Rangers responded with a goal from Motte. Tyler Motte, Motte’s Apple Juice and Sauce! Hold the Juice, hold the sauce, and eat the apples(the real apples). Sloppy breakdown on the second penguin goal. But slowly climbing into the possible top 5 in Rangers top goal scorer, Christopher James Kreider scores both the GWG(with an Allen Iverson Lue step over on the Pitt Dman) and the nice empty netter to make everyone breathe.
Overall performance wise, the Rangers played well. All four lines. Yute line were contributing (yes they didnt score) but sometimes, drawing penalties like Kakko did, (boy he needs to shoot the puck/or use his body towards the net) Chytil needs a goal badly. Igor’s back. Tell a friend. If he gets on a heater the d in front of him play well in the last 14, watch out. 4th line did what they had to do. And what Vally said in the postgame, the top 6 checked. I think he said they forechecked as well. If you can do that, plus put the puck in the back of the net in the playoffs, a recipe for success. Loved it that they were very disciplined hope they can replicate it. Defensively, much better w/the Key turnover that set up the first goal.
Having said all that, they played very well. Tight game. If they can play that style in the playoffs, great. BUT, what more important, the Rangers win! 2 points in the bag. Gotta keep stacking them up. 10 points on the Flightless Birds AND, the Eye Land Duh’s. Love it. Onto to the Penguins again. On Saturday night on ABC.
Loved it when both Vally and Trocheck both said this team won’t back down. I hope so. W/that, I leave you a song about not backing down. Hope that it can be a rallying cry. [https://youtu.be/5II-WnW9OJ](https://youtu.be/5II-WnW9OJo)
Onto the Penguins. God Save the King. Back afta dis.
Win or Lose, in the post game interviews, Kreider always looks like the reporters are telling him they knocked up his sister
Does anyone actually watch the betting exchange? Bring on the encore game broadcast already
A friendly reminder that Rangers are 28-9-5 since we got shat on by the Blackhawks in early December. That’s solid af. I think we just stressin cuz expectations are high
Where’s the pic of my man Kreider with his damn Broadway hat?!?
whew. took a quick peek at the Pens PGT… absolutely wild reaction. what game were they watching???
Man the penguins think WE’RE the dirty team that always gets away with penalties! I’ve seen it all now
Things feel like they’re starting to click again after all the moves. Shesterkin is playing well again, the defense is tightening up (and will be getting lindgren back soon) and tarasenko and kane seem to be finding their place in the lineup.
I’d like to see the powerplay get situated but overall I feel pretty good heading into the home stretch
We crushed shittsburgh! Nothing better waking up in the morning
Where can I watch the shesty glove save 😥
Such a good game. The team looked in control most of it, and they seemed to play hard from the first drop of the puck which is.. sometimes something they don’t do.
Biggest takeaways are wow, those top two lines are really learning to move the puck with each other. Way more possession, offensive zone time, and crisp clean passes. Crossing lanes and confusing defenseman. Plain chemistry.
I think laf and Chytil need to find ways to get open for kakko more often. He’s constantly a one man army in the corners and in the hard areas. They just need to find an open spot to shoot the thing.
Not to mention all the noticeable plays Tarasenko was making on the defensive side of the puck.
