Hope he doesn’t accept it. He’s too good of a person to have to deal with being captain in this market.
I remember Naslund turned into a natural leader as he got older. It just sort of bloomed out of nowhere and he made it his team. Guys naturally wanted to follow him and fight for him (ask Bertuzzi). I’m not sure I get those vibrations from any Canucks player. Certainly the team fell apart on numerous occasions this season regardless of how great Petey was.
Both Hughes and Pettersson are stabilizing forces when they are actually on the ice but what about off the ice? I also wonder if Hughes will snatch the captaincy out of left field because in interviews he does seem like he might develop that quality.

I think no captain next season so not so much pressure, see how Petey/Hughes handle being the co-As in a hopefully better season, then C the year after.
I don’t think anybody doubts Petey *could* be the captain of the Canucks. But there are other factors at play. Does he *want* to be the Captain? Does he even want to stay in Vancouver long term? Etc.
I have no issue with Petey being captain, but we aren’t required to pick one ASAP. If he wants it and signs long term it’s waiting for him.
