  1. If I were a good defender knowing about Edmonton's offence and (somewhat less now) lacking defense, I'd be all over trying to get on that team. Knowing the Oilers have a solid shot for the cup if their defense improves should be attracting a lot of talent.

  2. As a bruins fan I wonder if we might end up playing the oilers in the Stanley cup

  3. You obviously don’t live in edmonton.
Oilers are just disappointing this city every game.
Sorry hate to say it. That’s why I cheer for the Anaheim ducks.
The oilers are like gods without a cloud .
The ducks are down to earth winning games and having fun.

  4. The champions always peak at one time of the year. But Canadian teams dpn't win cups, don't have to. Never mind.

  5. In addition to our main studs, Ekholm, Skinner, Kane and Kostin have been so good for the Oilers it’s incredible. I mean Skinner has clearly taken over the nets and the other guys bring this edge and physicality that we sooooo needed. The rest of the teams have really started getting in their groove for sure with secondary scoring and defence that are looking behind them more and letting less people behind them. They still need work, but since the trade deadline this team has really REALLY got a lot better. LFGO! 😅

  6. After we got Campbell I thought to myself that the only way we win the Cup this year is if Skinner steps up his game. He has. Let's see if he can steal a game in playoff hockey. If your goalie can't win one by himself for ya then you probably don't have a good enough goalie to win the cup

  7. I haven't been this confident in my team in years. With the production from from our top guys and Nuge and hyman having career years and skinner being an absolute beast after we drafted and developed him and him being a hometown kid makes it even better. Plus Ekholm and Bjugstad have fit so nicely on this roster and they actually wanted to come to play for us. Genuinely I think those two are meant to be Oilers they've done so well since arriving

  8. I feel like they still have to get their defence in order. Like just last game their defence looked like trash. They had defensive lapses all the time and were lucky to only give up 4.

  9. Every year I watch the oilers and say ok this is our year and every year we've fallen short, but this year is different, this year is a make or break year, cup or bust. I think if they dont win this year your going to see a whole new team in the next couple years with guys like mcdavid and draisaitl coming towards the end of their contracts and being the top two players in the world and no hardware to show for it, they are going to start looking at other teams who have a proven track of being cup contenders to help them get that championship, the guys like nuge and nurse who've been loyal and a good fit but are probably also going to get fed up and jump ship, then your newer guys like kostin, Yamamoto, skinner, bouchard, are going to see the veterans leave and be like hey they might be on to something and leave as well and it's going to look like 2009-2017 oilers all over again in constant rebuild looking for core reliable players to build around. Just my thoughts @johnnyhawkey do you agree?

  10. If the Oilers weren't subjected to the Jack Campbell experiment they'd be #1 in the west right now.

  11. Kane would have easily hit 40 goals this year and added to more Oiler wins on the schedule if he wasn't sidelined for more than half the season. Add a rookie goalie who is an All Star and a Calder candidate, add the talent they acquired at the deadline plus the size, muscle and grit they also added during the season, I'd say the Oilers have a very good chance of going to the Stanley Cup final. The Oilers have always been a hungry playoff team. They are way better this year then they were last year and how far did they get last year? That's what makes them terrifying. Johnny Hawkey knows what he's talking about.

  12. When the Oilers keep their opponent to 3 goals or less they are 34-7-3 on the season.

  13. Not to mention making conference finals last year gives a good chunk of their guys deep playoff experience

  14. Another thing to love about Skinner is his humble attitude, he doesn't flaunt, doesn't act bigger than anyone. Speaks about his mental health excercises in stoicism and overcoming challenges. Also his inspiring story of being part of the Oilers organization since like his juniors.

  15. You did not just Call A Player Top 25 in Points and Averaging over a point per game, a “hidden Gem” 💀

  16. Oilers has one very sneaky, but VERY powerful stat; They are 2nd in the league in Regulation Wins, only trailing Boston.
And they lead the western conference in said stat, by a lot. Oilers; 37. 2nd place (Vegas and Dalls); 31.
And guess what…3v3 Overtime/shootout wins/losses are irrelevant in the playoffs.

  17. GOGO OILERS!! Gotta do it for Ben Stelter!! I believe the spirit of Stelter has entered Skinner.

  18. Teams that have won Cups over last 30+ have predominantly had goalies they've drafted or at least developed.

Skinner is a drafted and developed goalie thanks to draft pick from Nail Yakupov trade.

  19. I still think their playstyle combined with meh goaltending won't get them long in the playoffs. But that could be nullified by McDavid and they make a run playing extremely fun hockey. I hope that's the case.

  20. Don’t sleep on Edmonton…
Some Team always gets hot during the playoffs & I think it’s the Oilers this year.
They played the Bruins tough in those 2 games too…

  21. I highly doubt Ekholm alone will solve all the defensive nightmares that plague the Oilers in season and post season…. but its definitively a move in the good direction.

  22. The only thing stopping me from believing in the Oilers is their lack of defensive depth. The only defensemen they have that aren't a pylon defensively are Ekholm and Bouchard. They need more defensive defensemen.

  23. I wouldn't call a 6-4 win a "spanking". Pretty standard Oilers win. McDavid putting the D and goaltending on his shoulders. Skinner is pretty mediocre, performing better than Smith isn't exactly a high bar
