This was a scumbag move from Tony DeAngelo.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Tony DeAngelo received a game misconduct after spearing Corey Perry in the ‘lower’ region. We breakdown the incident & discuss what it means for players to ride the line.

  1. I've played rugby my entire life, and it bugs me when people use the word "scrum" to describe a free for all of players haphazardly pushing each other around. Scrums are like running a play from scrimmage in football. Each player has a specific role, there are set plays that are run from a scrum, and it is the probably one of the most highly regulated aspects of any sport I can think of. Sorry for being "that guy".

  2. These guys are playing their ass off and they get frustrated. I played hockey and when you are out working your ass off. But things don't go your way. You end up doing something stupid. And Perry is a big asshole I have heard he is always saying shit but he will not fight. And that pissed people off to get to a point where you just have to hit the bitch.

  3. Definitely intended to hurt the player.. T.D.A. ought get a nice fine and, a week not to play.

  4. Just when you'd expect Tortarella to be angry at somebody he's the opposite. "Tony competes. I wish more guys showed that kind of spirit." Then he backtracks it because he realizes that the most volatile player on his team just used his stick to circumcise Corey Perry. Perry deserves it but Tortarella goes on to backpedal with "He may have crossed a line and I need to see the tape." Old-school guys always need to "see the tape" even though it's been decades since the NHL actually recorded games using any.

  5. I hate DeAngelo as much as the next guy, but I'll never fault a player for giving Perry a taste of his own medicine.

  6. He should get a 10 game suspension
It was a malicious attack on Perry.
I'm a Marchand fan and yes this hurts his team, because as torts said .
He is competitive, but now after this incident and a suspension is passed along, he won't be competing which changes the dynamic of your team.
    Also
His number is noticed every time he gets on the ice

  7. I'm a Bruins fan
    So don't get me wrong.
Marchand is a main piece of the Bruins success.
I think that he is one of the best players in the league.
And would go toe to toe with any player.

He always reacts not instagates, unlike D'Angelo

  8. Funny how Laughton saw the whole thing and acted clueless as every Lightning player went for DeAngelo, and did not intervene.

  9. Poor little anthony deangela, love how he was pretending to be the victim during the postgame. Crying about Perry trying to knock his stick out of his hand. Yeah, that's reason to spear a guy in the family jewels. And then trying to act tough about fighting Perry when he knows the Lightning don't play the Flyers again this season. And Torts is like "love how he competes", what about a talented player with absolutely no character Torts? That gonna make your team strong? None of his teammates even went to help him when he got dog piled by the Lightning players after his cheap shot, that says it all.

  10. So Tony gets suspended two games, when a couple of weeks ago Miller gets 3 games for throwing a lob in Doughty's direction. I can't figure Parros out at all. If you had a choice which infraction would you prefer to take, taking a lob or getting speared in your junk?

  11. The fact that his coach supported this guy despite knowing full well that it was a dumb ass move is the maturation of John Tortorella. "Crossed the line?… Crossed the line?" He entered the pudendal no stick zone? And that's not competitive. It's combative. And I'll be interested in the next Flyers Tampa game.

  12. This would have crossed the line had it not been on Corey Perry. Since it was a spear to Corey Perry, this should be just fine.
