  1. Great video, just to clarify, a team has 3 salary retention slots, so Minny could in theory do another trade where they retain salary.

  2. Lockwood was meant to replace Motte but didn't work out. Now Rangers are going to give it a go.

  3. Canucks are for sure gonna draft Michkov if he's available at their spot. Lol. It's like they're preparing the team for him.

  4. I will be completely shocked if VAN is not the 3rd party team that retains 25% on Kane.

By moving Kravtsov out today, and sending down Jake tomorrow after he clears, the Rangers can acquire Kane on Wednesday instead of Friday.

Toronto paid a 4th round pick to MIN to retain $1.875 million on the ROR trade.

The price based on that for a team retaining $2.625 on Kane should then roughly be a 3rd round pick.

Instead of sending a 3rd to Vancouver the Rangers sent Kravtsov.

We'll see if I'm right when the full deal is announced but this a precursor move. It's really hard for me to believe that Kravtsov had exactly 0 value.

If VAN retains 25% for "future considerations" or something super small come the full announcement of the official deal (likely Wednesday) then we can infer that Kravtsov's value was actually around a 3rd round pick.

  5. If Kravtsov finds his game and becomes what he was supposed to when he was drafted then obviously good trade. In all likelyhood both players probably won't have impact at NHL level so this trade probably won't matter much either way in the end.
