Hey all and here is my look at Carolina’s interesting playoff history which seems to be feast or famine over most of it.

This is a pretty cool video for me since I was born in NC in 2000 and been a fan ever since.
The fans were always there, we just didn't want to put ourselves through the dark times.
That 02 team must’ve been the most random run
Tomorrow will be the day where the protected lists are going to be released, right? Are they imidiatly public for everyone?
The way you kept saying no playoffs over and over cracked me up
O'Neill has melded into his TSN role so well that it's hard to believe he's done anything but talk his head off
Shannon are you gonna make a video or anything addressing the Logan Mailloux situation?
Love seeing the fan base they’ve built over the years. Crazy what having a good owner does.
Bunch of jerks
Would love to see Jim Benning on the phone to Vince Dunn's agent.
First
The 7 game series vs the Devils in 08-09 was the best playoff series I've ever watched, unbelievable hockey games played with buzzer beaters and great play. It ended with the Canes shocking the Devils in their own house by scoring 2 with less than 5 in the third to steal the series. The second goal a Eric Staal wrister past a Brodeur is an all time Hurricanes moment in my opinion.
I’m not a canes fan but my baby bro is a canes fan so it would be cool to see them win another cup so he could see it.
Canes built up good will coming from Hartford in 1997 to the 01-02 playoff run ( I went to one of the home playoff games versus Toronto as my first NHL game ever and still have my souvenir cap from that night). The NHL seemed to have it in for the Canes in that Finals series versus Detroit though… Then have a few almost there years and then have that deep playoff run in 08-09…tough pill to swallow that year. After that year the bad vibes of Karmanos financials and being "almost there" really started to eat at the fan base and as someone who watches nearly every game it felt like we could win or lose to anyone and there had to be something with the coaching too… I really think we somehow wasted some of Cam and Eric's better years during that period. I think once Dundon took over as owner and hired Rod as head coach, the tide started to turn… players looked more bought in and coaching staff looked more confident with their game plans. Under Rod's tenure he's completely changed the mindset of the team, the players, the franchise, and the fans…we expect to win now. I was loving his first playoff run but I think that sweep over the Isles kind of took us out of our rhythm for the next series but we were going to need a short series at some point to heal and rest up based on the grind it took to make it in and going 7 against the defending champs. Bubble year and again, swept Rangers and then got the business from Boston. It was like they owned us or something. This year, I was concerned about our injuries heading into the Tampa series but considering the regular season series… I was expecting a 6-7 game series regardless of how the chips fell and I felt like being out in 5 didn't come as well as I would have liked to have felt because of how the regular season series went with Tampa…. but make no mistake, Tampa is that good…and arguably better playoff battle tested than we are currently.
As a Canes fan, I really wish we’d move into the Atlantic division. The potential for a rivalry with Tampa and Florida is too good to pass up. Meanwhile, no one in the Metro really cares about us.
Canes are likely to win the cup in the 20’s, calling it
I always wondered why they bottomed out in 2003 after beating my habs in 2002..
2006 🙁
i really enjoyed the 2006 final ft edm and car.
that was a fun, quick skating, exciting series with leads and comebacks. and the fan energy in both buildings was fantastic!!
pisani scoring in game 5 ot was total balls of brass. edm arguably might have won the cup had roloson not get hurt.
while i was rooting for edmonton, i tip my cap to the canes for winning the cup. geezus that cam ward was amazing in that series 🏒
Logan mailloux news?
Such a fun team to watch. Over the last few years they've become one of my favorites teams. Such great players, a great overall atmosphere about them, and great fans as well.
Bring back the whale
I used to live in Red Deer, I member Cam Ward as a Rebel, and how good he was. Too bad so sad, he rekt my Oilers later as a Hurricane
I am a Canes fan and like watching you because I don't have to hear all the same cliches about our market and whether they are going to move or whatever all the time.
Congrats on 204k!
Pretty sure their first year in the playoffs as the hurricanes was 99 in which they lost to boston in 6 if my memory is correct
Dundon deserves a lot of credit. Having an owner who's hungry to win makes a big difference.
Now that the Avlanche have kind of a reputation for losing in round 2. I wouldn't be surprised if the canes become the next team everone says will win a cup.
Whitney was the best player in Carolina, considering he was 33 when he joined 👍
If only the Canucks, or Jets or Sabres could 'go on a run' to win the Cup.
The BBQ sauce team.
So proud of the culture that has been built and a good owner, good GMs and success go a long way for that. But it’s exciting to see the franchise finally start building something sustainable around a coach like Brind’amour and stars like Aho and Svechnikov. Now it’s about putting it together along with the strong blue line to get over the hump
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE COME TO OUR GAAAAAAAAAAAAMES
Canes are a super fun team to watch with a great future ahead. Saw them lift the Cup in 2006 here in NC and would be cool to see it again. I will be rooting for them like always, especially while my Hawks figure out how to play hockey again 😁🏒
The Metro is going to be a fustercluck next season. there is going to be 1-2 playoff quality teams that miss the playoffs. I will always remember the 2009 series because Malkin destroyed them that series.
Single most important thing getting them to the playoffs 3 years in a row? 5/8/18 – Canes name Roddy Head Coach.
This last year was their best regular season. Central champs and they dealt with many injuries. The team won a lot of close games. With the extremely young nucleus of players, "Playoffs" should be expected every year going forward. I think the challenge will be managing the cap going forward.
Eric Staal was Steve Yzerman in 2006
How many boards will you need to do the Red Wings video lmao
Great video, Shannon! I would say the only missed thing is when dundon took over for Peter karmanos as owner. You could feel a tangible shift in the franchise as a die hard fan.
i love the canes to death, and Rod as coach has been phenomenal and I Don’t think we get the cup if he left. Not soon actually. Ive been proud of this team these last 2 years because we came toe to toe with elite teams having the chance to even the series (Boston and Tampa) they just find a way to Blow it and go down 3-1. The problem is crucial games and I just dont think we have a good combination of players who understand that except maybe Staal. I also think that maybe an actual top 6 sniper would be a great pick up for the first line because honestly im not feeling svech is first line worthy yet
Ready to see them have another great run!!!
I am waiting for Aho to hit that 100 point season
Waddell has changed the culture since stepping in as the GM in 2018. Brind'amour has been excellent, and the fanbase has been growing and growing and growing these past few years. So excited for the future, and LET'S GO CANES!!
The dark years were so tough to watch! John Forslund kept a lot of fans optomistic. Dundon should have kept him.
Respect the white Canes jersey. The black one gets all the love (well deserved), but this is one of my favorite road uni's in the league — along with the Kraken whites.
"We'll see how Mrazek does on this playoff list"… no. "Well, how about Nedeljkovic, he's 4 and 5"…….. sigh, no. lol
