Funny thing is if he just stayed on the ice no doubt it would’ve been 5. I know divings frowned upon but when that’s your standard can you blame players for doing it?

I guess it's a Detroit thing, it's well documented in football.
This and the Larkin crosscheck should both be double Minors for high sticking.
I get sometimes the calls are inconsistent with penalties like goaltender interference and kicking motion because no one understands those rules, but this is a call they should never miss.

People not getting that you can’t make the same bad call twice just for the sake of consistency. If that were the case then they may as well keep calling majors on that play all season long

Color me surprised. I was good with the 5 minute major and misconduct to Larkin. A fine was also the right call, I'd have been okay with a game too. Suddenly the same thing happens against the Red Wings and the opposing team only gets a minor? Absolutely disgraceful. Both were major worthy and both should have been majors. Hard not to think the league is heavy handed against Detroit when they not only miss a cross check to the head against Larkin about a week ago, then after giving Larkin a major and game misconduct with a fine for a cross check to the head, the very next game they look at Ras getting cross checked to the face and then only giving a 2 minute minor? Ridiculous. With how the officiating is and the weakness of DOPS, we might be due another strike at this rate.

Let's see. Just last night alone. Seider high sticked, no call. Ras cross checked in the face, 2 minutes. Ras throwing a clean hit then cross checked from behind, 2 min charging and 2 min roughing on him, and 2 min for Fox. The reffing in this league is a joke, and has been for a long time now.

The fact this was only 2 but Larkin got 5 and a game is why I'm starting to hate the NHL. The one sport I can stand to watch, too 🤦♂️
