The Lightning will send Vlad Namestnikov, while also retaining 50% of his contract. Michael Eyssimont is a 26 yr old forward who brings three years of experience, along with a physical presence. This trade deadline was not good for Tampa. Got fleeced for Tanner and then downgrade trading Vlady.
Clearly trading Vlady was a salary dump but he could be dynamic on 4th line and on the PP. Now nobody on bottom 6 can skate.
I can't get over giving up a young defensemen and 5 draft picks for Tanner. Tanner for Foote should almost be an even swap trade. Throwing in 5 picks is how the feeder system is so depleted.
This wasn't a good week for Tampa with trades and terrible games vs Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Panthers.
Ouch.
Let’s just keep it simple. None of this would be happening if kept palat and McDonough some how some way .
Sharks fan here. Eyssimont was with the team for a short 20 games, but every shift you could see him hustling and out working the other team. Generates scoring opportunities. I have no idea why the Sharks made this trade to Tampa. What a steal for TB.
Eyssimont has great potential as a depth/energy guy. I never loved Vladdy's style of play but he seemed to be a well liked guy, so I wish him well.
As for Toronto… smoke and mirrors.
Their bottom 6 is still questionable, their D pairings a bit of a science experiment still (how is Reilly and Holl still a thing?) and goaltending looks suspect (as it has in the second half of the season). Beyond that, so so so many new faces and chemistry isn't always immediate.
I was hoping for a Luke Schenn add but Max Domi would be a nice add if the price was right
