This was SAVAGE even for McDavid

In todays Ottawa Senators vs Edmonton Oilers game, Conor McDavid absolutely bullied Thomas Chabot in what may be some of the best work McDavid has put up yet. Which is a crazy claim, but seriously. It was absurd. The game itself was a high scoring affair with plenty of back and forth offence with Hyman getting his first penalty shot in his career and unfortunately, Anton Forsberg getting injured in a scary scene that saw him stretched off the ice. I cover it all in todays NHL hockey highlight video!

  1. Easy recovery if Sens 57 would of taken McLeod instead of helping his d

  2. Hands down McDavid is the best skater in the NHL. Not just speed but agility. He stops and turns like no other player. That play was a testimony to his agility, but also his ice awareness, as he had to be aware of McCleod at the same time as he was trying to corral the puck and ward off the defender. Crazy good.

  3. Gretzky was good, but I think McDavid is better. Every day I see replays that are jawdropping.

  4. the other dude completely missed his assignment, idk wtf he was doing

  5. He scores so many of these highlight goals against top tier defensemen too. Makes it that much more impressive

  6. Chabot coulda won that puck battle but he was being lazy. That’s the main reason mcdavid wins those puck battles. Not only because he has top tier level skill but because he works his fucking ass off to get to those pucks

  7. ABIT OF A CROSSCHECK? should of been a penalty. But the leagues a joke anyways so what can ya expect.

  8. Every time I see the clip I see the cross check and it does look like a penalty half the time. One thing about the crosschecking I find is the closer they have their hands together, the more it seems like a push, and if they are really close together sometimes they can argue they were just pushing while holding their stick

  9. To be fair, Chabot did well stick with him pretty tight when McDavid slammed on the brakes. I’m 50 years old and McDavid is the best player I’ve ever seen, and that includes Gretzky or Lemieux. He has Gretzky’s IQ with Bure’s speed, Datsyuk’s agility and ability to protect the puck.

  10. Two of the best McDavid plays and the first goal was so slick that it barely registers. Banking the puck off the goalie ala Gretzky isn't a reach for McDavid, but he did it instantly, without hesitation. The shorthanded assist is the kind of thing that will give a defenseman sleepless nights. Aggressively strips the puck, does a spin move, doesn't like the backhand shot potential, spots trailer and moves away from the net to get separation and give time for McLeod to reach the perfect spot and splits the defenders with the pass for an easy goal. Speed, controlled aggression, skill and hockey sense all shown in one shorthanded goal.

  11. That goal was the 2nd D's fault. McDavid was covered and he still came over to help leaving trailer alone. Just bad D on his part.

  12. It was a great game to see live. All the kids line up with signs for McDavid during the warmups. That goal was amazing (and scored on our end of the ice). The arena looked more like an Oilers arena than a Sens arena.

  13. the problem isn't how #72 Chabot played it. the problem is how #57 Shane Pinto played it. double teaming McJesus, only to then leave #71 McLeod wide open who then puts it in the net. it's always easy to point the finger at the wrong guy in this game.

  14. Number 57, I can't make out the name on the back of the jersey, played that horribly. Chabot was on McDavid, so him also going to McDavid was stupid. if the other guy played it properly it almost certainly wouldn't have been a goal.

  15. Great player with lots of skill but definitely a hooking penalty that wasn't called at about 9 seconds of this clip. He definitely used his stick to slow that defender down a bit then gave him a cross check on the back. Both of those could have been called penalties. No doubt about the skills showed after those facts.

  16. Chabot can be a bit of a pylon at times… but this was started with a cross check that the refs failed to call, as usual.

  17. If the play was reversed and McDavid got crosschecked, would jt be a penalty?
