refs are gonna look at you for a second if you raise your hand like that, don't immediately follow that up with theatrics, they're gonna catch it. I don't know how to fix it, but I don't like how the call is handled. Like this is a penalty, it's probs not gonna get called unless he does embellish, and because he embellishes, it's 4 on 4, which is also problematic for me. it should just be 5 on 5 with those guys in the box until the whistle is blown past their penalty time. IDK maybe make embellishment a 1:15 penalty or something? give the team that actually committed a penalty a 45 second kill? That's probs not a great idea cuz it would hurt a lot of players PP stats, but I just think something needs to be done, this shouldn't be 4 on 4
When a player dives, the diver should get the only penalty. After all, what did the other player do wrong? If you need to give both players a penalty, then give the diver 4+ minutes. As it stands, while the player diving doesn't get rewarded, they don't get punished either. Just results in 4 on 4.
Wow… clearly many people have never played hockey or even laced up a pair of skates…. he clearly caught an edge and it twisted him… he was skating 20+ km/h … that was a bad call .. barely interference, not a dive… just part of a physical sport.. leaning on one another and a bit of a spill… in playoff it would be play on, that's how it should have been here too.
… or could be just that the ref was bored.. so he turned it into a bit of 4 on 4 for a bit…
If the NHL really want to clamp down on the dives, stop calling corresponding minors for the other team and call the dives only. Then coaches will really get on the players' cases.

World Cup soccer could learn something from the NHL. Soccer diving makes the sport unwatchable.
Much as I like the Flames and Lindholm that was a pretty obvious dive. Pains me to see my own team doing that shit. 😒
