[Elliotte Friedman] Hearing Cutter Gauthier, drafted 5th overall by PHI in 2022, will return to Boston College for his sophomore season. Don’t think this is a huge surprise, and seen as the right move for his development.

  1. Gotta try and tank one more season and allow Cutter to build chemistry with Flyers first round pick, 2023 6th overall pick, Will Smith. I understand.

I’m fine with it, this rebuild isn’t a single-offseason “aggressive retool”

Good. No need to rush to the definition of mediocrity that is the current state of the franchise

From a timing perspective, I agree with sending him back while the organization tries to right the ship. However I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think he’s ready for the next level. I completely understand though that it’s beneficial for his development.

I wanted him to come and play in the AHL next season but honestly this is the best thing for him in hindsight. We don’t even know what the AHL team will look like next season. Is the coaching the same? Are the talented youngsters all going to be on the main roster instead? Are they going to be a trainwreck? Maybe it’s best to give him another year away from the Flyers, let him do his thing on a BC team that I believe is getting an influx of good talent next season? And learn how to play center before being thrust into a league with 30YO vets taking him to the cleaners in the FO circle. I’m really excited for him, and I really want to see if he can add some muscle and turn into a dominant power center. Wouldn’t that be nice?? Also, him on one side, Foerster on the other with a stud playmaker thrown on a PP unit will be really really fun to watch

Not surprising at all. He needs time, especially if they want to play him at center. There’s absolutely no reason to rush his development.

Gauthier over Jiricek looking better with every *passing* day!!!

The shame of it is that he’s clearly ready. At the same time you don’t want him just thrown on a mediocre team, but I’d be lying If I selfishly didn’t want him risking injury in games that are meaningless to the Flyers, especially with this organizations luck
