The Vancouver Canucks faced off against the Boston Bruins, but the game took a sour turn when defenseman Ethan Bear left the game in the first period due to an upper-body injury.
Bear took a puck up high on his first shift, leaving the Canucks with only five defensemen to hold the line against the Bruins. With Bear out, the Bruins took advantage and scored two goals in the first period.

are u actually sure hes out with a bad injury
Canucks are certainly going to miss the NHL-level quality depth that Bear gives the team. He's having a solid year. He's cut down on the giveaways dramatically and his outlet passing has been fun to watch. At any given pass, he can send someone in on a break. Do think he could play more physical, make some more hits, and get uglier in front of the net. He'll always try to box out, but sometimes to just have to lay a guy out to make a statement and keep your opponent on edge. Think opposing players get too settled in front of the VA goalie on him. It's not like Ethan can't bring the leather, he'll drop the gloves if need be. In any case, hope he is okay, and any injury is minor, b/c the canucks need him something bad. Also like seeing him play with Hughes, he a good defensive compliment to Hughes always playing up and around.
