Tough pill to swallow and something the Jets need to face as they approach his free agency after next season but 55 is a complimentary piece and not someone you build around if you want to truly contend. He’ll have hot streaks and he’ll pile up some empty calories points but he’s not a guy that goes out and puts the team on his back or is someone a coach can point to for a rookie as a veteran to emulate.
His 17-18 playoffs was such a tease but in the 5 years since then I don’t feel like we’ve seen that player.

He’s getting goals but defensively he’s a liability. He ain’t a game changer. He has skill and great shot but his overall game is satisfactory with the lack of effort. If jets don’t make it to the 3rd round we should go into a mini rebuild this summer. Start a new foundation around Perfetti. Need to bring some excitement back to this team

At the end of last season Kenny and Renny were talking about some things the team could look at doing and one of the kinda off the wall suggestions was to put Scheiffle on the wing to minimize his defensive liabilities.
Not exactly ideal but if they went PLD, Namestikov, Lowry and Stenlund as their C’s for a couple games I’d be interested to see how it turned out. I have no idea how you would make up the lines though.

Can’t stand Billeck so not reading it. But tired of the scheifele hate. He’s a good NHL player and yes his best days are behind him won’t be the first player to slow down in his late 20s and early 30s. Half this sub hates him and also think Jets would get a massive return by trading him

Downvote away, and not saying I 100% agree, but I think 55 spends his entire career here.
Heโs the Jets first draft pick since coming back, has put up good numbers and has been on a very team friendly contract. That kind of shit gets you a Wheeleresque extension that will overpay based on past performance.

Scheifele has a lot of goals but watching him play is cringe worthy. He is a horrible team player, not a leader, and a lazy overall waste of talent. He puts in minimal effort and it rubs off on players like Connor and others. You canโt build around him and he should be traded while he has value.
