This is the greatest reaction I've seen

I’m sure many of you watching this, have seen the reaction videos to smelling salts from NHL players across the league and they can be absolutely hilarious. Well, in last nights Minnesota Wild vs Chicago Blackhawks game, Ryan Reaves was caught on the bench with on of the greatest reactions to smelling salts I have ever seen. Just a quick one I cover in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. Smelling salts are made of ammonium carbonate. Ammonium carbonate spontaneously decomposes into ammonia gas and ammonium bicarbonate. The sudden shock of the scent can cause limited wakefulness, maybe a quick jolt of adrenaline, but is mostly placebo.

  2. I haven't tried smelling salts but I have opened an unlabeled bottle of ammonia and smelt it, not sure if that's similar or not but it gave me an unpleasant shock.

  3. Fighters on other teams should take note, put smelling salts in your gloves to marinate them, so that when you drop your gloves to fight Reeves, one whiff of your hands and you'll be able to land a few clean shots.

  4. we used to use these in beer league, just the little tubes though. I bet whatever was in that plastic jar was some sort of extreme smelling salts.

  5. Smelling salts work by irritating the tissues lining your nasal canals. This triggers an inhalation reflex causing a lot more oxygen to go to the brain which gives players this brief alertness.

  6. I love how you continue to give a run down of what happened after clips that you highlight and give a short summary of not only the game but the teams, love it!

  7. lol. i love that guy. I always wanted him on then Rangers and when we got him i got his jersey and then he got traded. lol.

  8. It's ammonia. Can be harmful, in my opinion, if used too much. It basically burns your mucous membranes. I tried them twice, but won't use them anymore. I just can't see them being a good thing to do. Ammonia, in gas form, can kill people almost instantly…or destroy their lungs. This is just a lesser form of that.

  9. I use smelling salts to stay awake at work. I've had every coworker try them. It 100% works. I do not believe it a placebo at all.

  10. even a goon, like reaves can be in the right place at the right time and end up with the credit for a goal. goon

  11. The bottles are as strong from about the middle of your chest as a normal one is right under your nose. The bottles are meant to be reused. I've done this with a fresh one and it was not stop tears for about 5 minutes. It's quite awful.

  12. Smellin salts do work, they cause more oxygen to go to your brain. It's not life changing though it's like having a cup of coffee.
