This was a four point move for the Islanders with their win and the Panthers loss. The magic number is down to 11 to clinch a playoff berth!! Onto Washington on Wednesday and it’s a national TV game as well on TNT. Gotta get another two points.

Nobody would voluntarily choose to play the Isles in the first round, including Boston or the Canes. The Isles have the type of team that can get playoff momentum and ride it a long ways. They're made up of many blue-collar types and when the rink shrinks in April, those types of players eek out those 2-1 dramatic overtime wins. Isles are built for the playoffs.
