Calle Rosen is the best defenseman on the blues according to multiple analytics people, he also somehow manages a +18 on this god awful team in very limited playing time, should play more.

I mean the 100% offense is probably a bit of a stretch, 7 goals and 10 assists in 41 games isn’t necessarily eye popping. Also 7 goals on 49 shots (14.3%) is most likely sustainable. Although you do gotta give him props for being reliable when he’s deployed. Either way, I’m glad he’s an option for the club at least next year as well as he’s under contract

Unfortunately, Walman is also one of the best defenseman now on the Red Wings. Sigh.

Trade him + a glue guy + a 2nd and get us a second nick leddy since that’s what we need

He also plays sheltered minutes. his role difficulty was 14%.
I’d also take Dom’s models with a grain of salt. It says Rosen is worth 6.5 million which just isn’t good. I don’t like his models, considering he’s a journalism major not a stats major and often just says “yea my model says this which doesn’t make sense and i disagree but oh well”
which is what he’d say about Rosen being worth 6.5.

Dunn and Walman similarly crushed sheltered minutes like Rosen. After being traded and given a bigger role, they both have broken out as big time players.
There is something wrong with the way Berube and Armstrong evaluate defensemen. Look at the veterans we brought in like Leddy and Scandella for those spots, that have gotten destroyed defensively.
Rosen has been very good, yet not really given a chance for a bigger role despite the dumpster fire that the defense has been all year. Scratching him is a joke.

And here you see the biggest flaw in these metrics: the numbers that people parrot don’t account for usage even though you can see the stat for usage right on the graphic.
14%. He’s not being challenged nearly as much as our other defensemen.
