Does that mean we can trade Laughton like we should’ve in 2021

I feel like that’s a weird statement to make at this point of the year.
Can anyone go into the “reasoning” of having a captain vs not? Is it that we dont have an all star? Does no one embody the leadership skills necessary? It seems a little odd that hes already said no to next season

This man is exactly what Philly needed.
Couturier is my favorite player. I think he should be captain. However if it’s going to be Laughts, waiting a year is probably the right move. It changes the optics (and reality) from “Best choice remaining” to “The best choice.”
Who cares? We are going to be going into a full rebuild, why not wait and see who could actually be here at the other end of it before giving it out. The obsession over who gets the C is baffling when there’s so many other issues
Just tossing it out there. If you think the Captain is the guy with the most talent, go ask LA Kings fans what they think of Dustin Brown.
Their Cup teams had a lot of elite talent. He wore the C and pulled the cart. There is a reason he has the statue outside the arena.
Give me a Mike Richards type captain. In his prime, he was the best present day flyer to wear the C
No surprise given the anticipated rebuild. A more interesting question is the next Flyers captain currently on the roster?
It’s astonishing to me the amount of people in here that think couturier is still going to be 1C material, he hasn’t played in forever. Got bad news for all those fans: he’s never going to be the same player. He is absolutely not going back to getting 75 points and getting a selke nomination. He’s made of glass!

-Therefore Ryan Ellis = Captain
Konecny is prolly the best option, but he might be used in a rebuild (could fetch a nice haul).
From a rangers fan: how does your fanbase feel about Tortorella? Is he getting on your nerves yet or is he still in ‘tough love’ mode and people accept it as a necessary evil?
FWIW I miss his personality on the bench but I do NOT miss his system of chewing up players and spitting them out.
Idk how to feel about this. Part of me thinks its really petty. I get not wanting to pick a player to be the face of your franchise in the midst of rebuilding but damn i hope the players dont take this as “no one here works hard enough to be captain”
People are making this a way bigger deal than it needs to be.
If you have an alternate captain and no other captain on the team, then you have a captain. His name is Scott Laughton
