Random King of the Day: Jim Fox. 578 GP / 186 G / 293 A / 479 Pts / -63 / 143 PIM. Spent his entire playing and broadcasting career with LA. Injuries sidelined his playing career but he came out one of the best color commentators in the league. Will have a mic retired next to Bob. LA Legend.

Fox will bring energy and enthusiasm to the booth every night even if we’re playing a random game in the middle of the season

This makes me happy. I didn’t realize he played in silver and black. Cool pic!

  3. Well deserved.

He needs to be inducted to the Hockey HOF via the Foster Hewitt memorial award someday.

Jim fox approached my cousin who worked for Fox Sports at the time and asked if he “had any gel?”. He then affectionately referred to him as Greasy Hair until we let him know who he was.

  5. Wore #19 for eight years, let Larry Robinson have it and switched to 4 for his last season.

  6. I’ve been lucky enough to run into Jim multiple times over the years and he is an incredibly gracious and kind man. We are lucky to have him.

As Kings fans, we’ve been extremely fortunate with the broadcasters. I became a fan in around 1991 because that’s when most of the games started getting shown on Prime Ticket. It was Bob and Jim on the TV broadcast and Nick and Brian Engblom on the radio. For a quarter century, the only changes we saw were a few different partners for Nick before Daryl Evans joined in 1999. I don’t know what the consensus is about Alex Faust, but I think he’s great and has taken the mantle from Bob in working with Jim (and it was incredible to hear Bob again on Dustin Brown night).

I know a guy who thinks Foxy’s a homer, but after hearing some other teams’ announcers via ESPN+, I’m even more firm in my belief that Foxy, while obviously pulling for the Kings, is appropriately fair and impartial.

Jim! So fun to listen to. Love commentators that not only know the game but can explain it too

And so sooo chill if you ever meet him in person.

    FOXY!

He seriously is the GOAT commentator. My absolute favorite.

  11. Best in the league for sure. He replies to people’s tweets in the middle of games during the TV timeouts.

He came to my hotel room at frozen fury one year. We gave him our best wine. Jim was a blast hanging out with drunk kings fans.

I vividly remember when Fox was just starting his broadcasting career, and he said something (I don’t recall what) that was either incorrect, misleading, or taken the wrong way. Regardless, he soon gave a sincere on-air apology where he took full responsibility for it without making excuses. It was the epitome of a class act and instantly gave him a ton of credibility.

  14. I remember the game he got his US citizenship.. I was almost crying too! Special guy, glad we got em on our side.

My daughter spoke to him at a game last week, said he was so nice and personable. The best!

Jim Fox taught me everything I know about hockey. What a legend. Love that guy so much.
