Despite injuries in his later seasons, DeKeyser gave us a lot to appreciate. Thanks for choosing the Red Wings!

Maybe the most underrated Red Wing of the 2010s. Getting a right-handed version of him today would be incredible for the team.

Seems longer than 10 years. Too bad his body couldn’t keep up longer.

WMU represent! He was such a stud and came up right away.

DDK was unfairly maligned in some parts of the fanbase, but he was a solid 2nd pairing defenseman who was probably the highlight of our blueline after Kronwall retired. He still represented the team and his hometown humbly and admirably.

I have a DDK jersey. Bummer his body couldn’t do it anymore. Was an easy guy to root for being from MI too.

DDK was a great 2nd pair D who became the victim of being overplayed

Elliot Friedman told the story about teams recruiting him as a free agent. Apparently a team had went for dinner with him, then noted they weren’t quite sure the best driving route back to their hotel. Danny offered to lead them as it was on his way anyways. As the team officials pulled up behind Danny’s vehicle they noticed he had a Red Wings license plate and realized that they’d probably made a pitch for nothing

This is the wake where we all say nice things about him, ignoring the fact many here wanted his brake lines cut.
Wasn’t a superstar, but I do think he achieved stud-status in the NHL. Had a great shot and sometimes looked identical to Lidstrom in both size and body-language.
Should be fondly remembered. I’d have a road soda with him.
