Sebastian Aho's INSANE OT Goal

The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4 in OT on Saturday night. The Hurricanes managed to tie the game up at 4-4 with 0.3 seconds left in regulation. Even with the injury to Svechnikov can the Hurricanes still make a deep run?

  1. Flyers were dangerous that game, both teams played great. Probably the best I've seen the Flyers play this season and it could have been their game if it wasn't for .2 seconds. With the playoff question, Hurricanes aren't just one player, Svechnikov is a hard loss because he fits perfectly in the Hurricanes but it's not a team with a star player on offense. Hurricanes are strong because of their defensive depth and ability to maintain pressure in the offensive zone. That's been the key this year, high scorers aren't the top ranked teams right now, it's top defenders. Hurricanes have Burns, Slavin, Gostisbehere, Skjei, and Pesce. A crazy defensive lineup there alone, along with Staal being a puck drop master. You could slap any forwards on that team and it would be top 3 in the division

  2. I like the Canes, but I don’t think they will go very deep in the playoffs. They can’t beat the good teams, on the road. They need more balanced scoring.

  3. Canes fan here. I Raleigh hope (had to) they can go far in the playoffs but even if we make it out of the Metro, I'm not sure we can beat Boston in a 7 game series. Their goaltending alone would beat us, although so far we're 1-0-1 against them this season… But God we need consistency on the offensive side in the playoffs to do anything.

  4. I was thinking about this today and looked at the teams standings, Hurricanes still have a pretty solid record in the last 10 games relative to the other teams in playoff contention. Also, their goals against stat is far better than the Rangers who are, in my opinion, overrated in their defensive capabilities but people do treat the Rangers as a favorite for the Metro. Even without Svechnikov, the Rangers have at best a coin toss chance at beating the Canes in a playoff series this year.

  5. This game was another perfect example of original 6 or second wave officiating! Flyers (Second wave team) got away with almost everything while the Hurricanes got called for anything close to a penalty!
