GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Predators (03.30.23) | The Jarry Show

To end the month of March, the Penguins faced off against another team in a playoff race, albeit in the Western Conference: the Nashville Predators. Tristan Jarry got the start in net for Pittsburgh. This was Jarry’s 200th career NHL game. In the opening period, Pittsburgh created numerous chances and outshot Nashville, 16-12, but neither team could break through on the score sheet. Toward the end of the 2nd period, Evgeni Malkin launched a cross-zone pass, which was picked up by Brian Dumoulin. Dumoulin showed incredible patience, out-waiting a sprawling Predators defenseman, and finding an open Jason Zucker on the near-side post. Zucker’s 26th of the season put the home team up, 1-0. The 3rd period saw the Penguins add to their lead on the man-advantage. Rickard Rakell ripped a hard pass through the blue paint to Jake Guentzel, who was open on the opposite side of the net. Guentzel stayed strong on his stick and deflected the puck home to put the Penguins up, 2-0. Tristan Jarry stopped all 28 shots he faced off of Nashville sticks for his 13th career shutout in his 200th career game.

  1. 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧 Guentzel is the GOAT 🐐 he should achieve 40 goals in one season once again 💪💪 spectacular work from Tristan. He's good when he's 100%, which he is for the first time since before the Winter Classic.

  2. Amazing game! It was amazing to see in person I can't wait to go to another one on the 11th! I try to go to 1 game a month to support my favorite hockey team of all time! Let's go pens!!

  3. Nice shutout from Jarry, such a needed game for him since his tougher performances this march. Good on Zucker for breaking the ice and Guentzel for sealing the game. Aim big and try our best to take down a tough challenge against the Bruins.

  4. well at least they won. Too bad they have a tougher end of season schedule than Florida has. Gonna be a toss up for the wild card now since FLorida has won past 2 putting them up in points right on Pens heels.

  5. Well, I'm happy my Penguins won a game but I feel bad that it had to be against my second close favorite team.

  6. If only The Penguins can be this consistent in every game, very much tougher opponent coming Saturday in The Bruins, but good win last night.

  7. Seems like too little too late to me…..barely squeaking into a wildcard spot(potentially) & most likely another 1st round exit doesn’t really scream Penguins Hockey 🤷🏼
