Why would they exchange for Tyler Gauthier it’s not an up grade.
Win for OTT – Gauthier is still young, he could eventually fill Watsons role.. We get a young player and a draft pick out of this. More moves to come for OTT. #GoSensGo
Trade sounds fine although not very exciting. He has 30 and 49 games in the last 2 seasons with no AHL time, does he have injury problems or is he healthy scratched all the time? With the Chabot and Joseph connection though, sounds like it's a good trade for the player at least.
I think we could have gotten a better pick, but it looks like Gauthier is an upgrade over Watson and he makes less.
It’s been a while but his AHL numbers when he first got drafted were actually really good. I think he could be a late bloomer. Worst case, he’s an upgrade over Watson
Gauthier is a big strong guy. We love Motte though. Gauthier doesn’t really kill penalties. Give JG a shot on 3rd line

Thank god we got rid of Gauthier. We have had him for years. Every game he has incredible scoring chances but whiffs on everything. Very frustrating
Gauthier is 6'4 , hopefully that means a physical player
Probably would have preferred to keep motte, maybe extend him for next season. For me it’s been extend hamonic and motte and see what’s out there for the rest of the expiring contracts. Looking for roster continuity and motte fit a PK role well. Overall pretty pointless trade imo

Ranger fan here. I like Gauthier but he really isn’t a 4th line player. IMO he’s top 9 or bust; not a good defender, forecheck is inconsistent. That’s kind of the issue with him. He’s a scorer but hasn’t scored at the NHL level. Hes very frustrating because he’s huge, he can skate, not afraid to drive the net…just can’t really finish. He reminds me of the fast kid in mighty ducks 2 that can’t stop lol. Has all the tools but can’t seem to put it together and at 25 he probably is what he is. Not much of a passer and his offensive chances are generally when he just takes the puck and blows by a defenseman on his own. Will definitely give you a few exciting moments and possibly a few highlight reel goals. Sens taking a flyer on him figuring it out late in his career and the rangers get a good forechecked/PKer for a playoff run. Seems like a good deal for both sides.
Big, fast, and cant finish. He had TONS of chances to stick and never panned out with the rangers. Had one year where he spent a ton of time on Panarins opposite wing and it still didnt work.
I think Dorion did alright with the trade. Mr Gauthier has to unseat Lindholm, Ryan, in the first two years after being drafted, presuming that these were the only right shooting right wingers ahead of Gauthier, not to forget the left shooting right wingers. Then comes Necas and others including left shooters who might have jumped the queue??
i think you guys are missing a key ingredient in this trade. Gaultier having played junior with Thomas Chabot and Mathieu Joseph for the Saint John Sea Dogs. instant chemistry anyone?
I think he could be a third liner. Especially looking for a top 4 D, possibly another goalie, signing the cat… we need a solid cheap player on third and fourth line. I think him and Jo could fly and it could be fun!
