What are the odds they are playing piss poor on purpose so they can crank it up come playoff time and nobody expects it? Part of me is hoping this is the case

  2. Kaapo-Taco

Didn’t deserve a point. Top 6 was embarrassing tonight. Kane and Kreider might as well not have been there, completely invisible. Halak does his best but the team let’s him down yet again. Harpur is ass, I’m sorry it’s true

The game was meaningless but damn make an effort

  3. NotFoley

When this team disappoints they do it in the most impressive fashion.

  4. jkman61494

This team became functionally broken osince 88 arrived. Every worst fear I had about him coming ever since the rumor started are coming true

The powerplay is worse. The 5 on 5 play has dipped overall. And we now rely on lines 3 and 4 more than ever before.

  5. New_Capital3267

This team has heart, we know that. They proved it again tonight fighting back. But for this team to reach their potential they need to play a full 60. Gallant needs to have them ready to go from puck drop. The talent is there, let’s not squander it by giving away playoff games due to not being ready to play from the jump.

  6. Kbb0509

I’m going to completely ignore the Rangers tonight bc that’s what they deserve. It’s cool that we got to watch a kid make his NHL debut for a team that’s still technically in the hunt for a wildcard spot and play excellent and win the game – that’s what it’s all about. Okay I can’t actually ignore the Rangers: the kids and fourth line continue to be our best players, Halak still going strong and giving us a fighting chance despite facing a ton of shots. Top 6 need to evaluate themselves.

  7. huskyferretguy1

If you thought this game would have a happy ending for the Rangers, then you haven’t been paying attention… to Northeastern University men’s hockey.^(intending to be sarcastic)

  8. adsason

    – hitting panic button Kane. Dude makes every line he’s on worse. Hasn’t clicked what so ever. Aside from swapping him with vesey (never gunna happen) we are just stuck. Maybe just promote kid line to 2nd to insure more minutes for them and less for Kane. I think Kane line just has to be Kane/krieder/tro

    – I’m not panicking about the slow starts. Fact is, when the rangers are playing their best, they are the better team on the ice and that’s most important. I guess you can question their heart, but I’ve seen their heart and guys like senko and Kane (yes I’m panicking on him but still) have obviously showed heart before.

  9. I get that they’ve clinched and this isn’t an earth-shaking game result, but it’s also crazy to think this team can just *turn it on* at the drop of a hat, like they haven’t been wildly streaky most of the season.

  10. dcgirl98

Another slow 1st which is a little sad given it was a rookie goalie. They could’ve just thrown shots at him to test him. They’re not playing a full 60. Halak kept them in it. As usual Kid and 4th lines are making sure we know they are there. Hoping we do better on Sunday. But they need to look at what’s working and not with the top 6 and PP. Shake things up. Break up Bread and Kane. Something. I’m looking forward to some Mika April. Let’s try to get 1 road win out of this trip. LGR!

    Listless, disinterested, and lazy.

    I feel like Dean Wormer:
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

  12. glacier_bay

I’m not a doomer but I just don’t know what to think about these Rangers anymore. The insufficient level of intensity and urgency is alarming. The confusion on the ice and the inadequate cohesion at this point in the season is troubling. And the Capitals in Washington is next on the schedule.

My recommendation — Trouba decapitates Oshie as earliest in the first as possible.

  13. MarsHotelSouth

We really need Lindgren back, and healthy, ASAP. Overall bad defensive performance tonight. That OT goal was a horrible showing from our guys.

With that said… coming off a back to back. Buffalo’s goalie was also great tonight, Sabres will be dangerous with him in a couple years. Take the point here and just forget this game

Going forward. Please start playing a full 60 minutes. Not so OVERLY HARD that they get hurt or burned out, but just keep up a good effort for all three periods. Coming back from 2-0 is commendable, but like… maybe just stop putting yourself in that position to begin with. Also GG, why not put Trouba out there instead of Key at the end? 8 has not been making many boneheaded mistakes lately, I can’t really say the same for 79

  14. Zero-jiggler

Kane needs to step up. He’s like if you took everything bad about Panarin’s game and only half the skill. He’s been a ghost pretty much every minute of every game so far and that cannot happen in the playoffs.

  15. rushy1911

am I the only one who thinks that these games do matter? We can still get home-ice advantage to match lines against the Devils speed and its always better going into the playoffs with momentum.

  16. guccikline

Honestly our top 2 lines have been VERY invisible the past couple of games and our PP is non existent

  17. OBlastSRT4

Yesterday I thought they had a tough one b/c the Devils are a great team. Now I realize they just are playing bad. Hopefully they can figure it out before the playoffs start. This is some piss poor effort.

  18. BroccRL

Fuckin massive bottle of dip spit above trouba’s cubby lol

  19. Kbb0509

I’m still watching the Buffalo broadcast and I hate to say it but Devon Levi is precious. Also, he specifically said it was a big deal to play and beat the Rangers because they’re so talented and he looked up to Halak when he was in Montreal. Likable kid.

  20. TheIncredibleHork

That sucked, but apparently it was against the next Dominion Hasek, so there’s that to consider. Good for Levi.

Top 6 do need to step up, though I’m not in panic mode about it at all. Unhappily concerned, though, yeah a little. Kids at least look like they’re ready to get into playoffs mode.

I do think that if we were to somehow make financial magic happen to bring one of the trade deadliners back, I’m taking Tarasenko over Kane every day of the week. Sure, maybe he’ll turn it on come playoffs, but I’m just VERY thankful we didn’t make him our big spender move and miss out on Vova or Motte.

Edit: I meant Dominik, but GBoard is crap and both exercised dominion over their nets, so it stays.

  21. Tommybrady20

Not starting on time is coaching. (Or lack thereof)

    Period, point blank.

  22. BroccRL

Lol that kid cellying while his dad lounges in the recliner is pretty good

  23. Pal_Saradise

Good effort? Not really. But don’t sleep on the Sabres. They’re streaky but beat the Devils and Islanders in the past week.

  24. TheChelicopter

I feel like this team can both be swept in the first round or win the cup. Inconsistency in New York.

  25. BroccRL

Damn gg alright let it out dawg no pucks for anyone next practice

  26. Zero-jiggler

Gallant fucking pissed. Honestly the most emotion I’ve seen him show post game in a long time

  27. RZAxlash

Garden of Dreams struggling to generate money this year?

  28. Direct_Crab6651

You can’t lose to a bad non playoff team without their best player and a rookie goalie and be seen as a threat to win the cup.

    Said it last year
Said it when the team struggled
Said it during the winning streaks

The problem with this team is the coaching. The only answer has been add more talent but without a true head coach who can out strategize the other team or motivate the players when they are dragging, all the talent in the world will not matter. Plenty of super talented teams have gone nowhere thanks to mediocre coaching.

Having a great coach only gives you a shot at winning but not having one gives you no shot. I am not sure GG gives us a shot at winning it all

  29. AIC_333

You guys can shit on gallant all you want. Some things are just basic hockey. Screening the goalie, shooting the puck, etc. I agree it feels like there’s no system in place and I don’t think Gallant will be here if they win a cup, but why is it that the third and fourth lines are basically the only reliable ones on the team? It’s not all coaching. Everyone on this team says they need to shoot more or go to the dirty areas more and nobody does it consistently except for a few players.

  30. nyc24chi

Dumb question: who’s available this off-season to be the next HC? Asking for a friend 👀

  31. knobcheez

This is about the 20th time this season people are calling for GG to be fired. Once we win 2 games in a row half this sub will go back planning the Stanley Cup parade.

Y’all need to drink a beer or smoke a joint or something

  32. chickichuglette

Ryan Lindgren is the heart of this team. Rangers need him.

  33. Pork-Roll

That third felt like a powerplay. Hope we sort the first two out soon.

  34. BernieManhanders23

Can the boys take a moment to relax with that x next to their name? Grabbed a point battling back from two. It’s easy to knee jerk back and forth between cup contenders and wasted team when every game is under a microscope

  35. Key-Tip-7521

After last night’s playoff game like feel to it. This performance tonight was as flat as a flat bottle of champagne (8 Men Out Reference). Whether or not this team was “emotionally or physically fatigued” from last nights game is the reason. But who knows.

Once again, another game in a row, team doesnt show up early in the game. You know what happens if I or anyone doesnt show up for your job multiple times either in a row or consistently? You get fired. I’m not asking for anyone to get fired. But you get my point. Turk has every right to be pissed off. No one showed up except the Kid Line (nice goal Kakko). Fox scored a good one in the 3rd. Dirty goals to the net are important come playoff time.

But hey, can’t wait till the last 40 minutes to turn it on. Maybe in every locker room, they should have a MASSIVE CLOCK or BOARD that says what time the game starts at. This effort tonight looked like everyone was playing in Hartford. Seriously. 88 has been mia since the trade. Sheesh at first I’d like to see how he be but damn. He looks like passenger on most nights. How on Earth can this team seriously be a possible cup contender when you play like that! Of course I knew it they turn Levi into an elite goalie. It’s Rangers tradition unlike any other. Boy this team has talent, but to paraphrase Herb Brooks: “you don’t have enough talent, to win on talent alone.”

I’ll end it on this, if they play like this in 2 weeks against WHOEVER, idc if it’s the Devils, Canes, Atlanta Thrashers, or any of the contending cup teams they be heading out early. Yes you can win games after a shitty 1st 20 minutes. But it’s not healthy. Can’t make that a habit.

Rant over. 6 games left in the season. Onto the Caps 1PM puck drop. Remember that. If this performance happens again, maybe do some gassers or something. Yeah they got the point. Idc. They didn’t deserve one. Onto the Caps.

  36. Smorgas-board

Rangers are the team to play for your debut game…

  37. Krispyford

So many people in this thread are like, “I’m not a doomer, but this team is fucked!”. When they start losing playoff games, I’ll let myself worry.

  38. ExperienceNo7751

I was there tonight. You see much more love than from broadcast obviously.

Defensive pairings don’t look confident. They just don’t. They’re chasing puck carriers and reacting late. The amount of pucks lost on the boards was nightmare fuel at times. Puck battles were constantly lost.

Panarin turnovers are getting meme-able. Miller chasing out of position is eye-popping. Harper panics with the puck a lot.

Not enough physical play, at all.

  39. Maleficent-Comfort-2

We seriously can’t be losing games like these.. against the Sabres? Cmon man wake up!
