  1. As a Sens fan I can tell u that there is no outrage here. He was terrible here. When we would hear he was starting we knew it was a loss. Glad he is playing better somewhere else.

  2. there is a huge difference in stats between Gustavsson and Fleury tho and that says something about Gustavsson other than Minnesota having a better defence than ottawa

  3. Ottawa really made this trade?? You gotta be kidding me🤷‍♂ I'm just finding this out and Im pretty shocked😬 This is why Ottawa can never have nice things 😂

  4. As a Minnesota fan, I knew pretty much nothing about him when the trade was announced. I just knew he was young upon brief research. Talbot never really impressed me here. I always thought he was solid, but nothing made him unique. I never would have guessed FG would be where he is at this point.

Now watching FG and Flower switch off seemingly every other game has been absolutely fascinating to watch. FG takes a far more technical and more tactical approach to his style and Flower takes a far more risk-taking and acrobatic approach. Two completely different styles of goaltending and it's so fun to watch their contrasts.

  5. I think several things made Gustavsen this good.
    1. Players usually up their game when moving to a new team.
2.He got a fresh start and he grabbed it.
    3. Guerin always makes it a point of how importent it is to help players develope and thrive. Every player who have been traded to the wild have loved it there and most have thrived and "blossomed '
    4. Also the trainers might have seen what Gustavsen needed to work on more and had a plan on how to train him.
    5. And Fleury is an amazing team mate who helps him and supports him in every way he can.

  6. The Sens had Gus stuck in a 3 goalie rotation so he’d only play once every 5 or six games. That alone is disastrous for any goalie! But when he did play, the Sens would put him in against top teams! Pit, Vegas, Wild,Fla, the Avs, Nyr etc.. He was fed to the wolves! But we just love ‘em here in Minny! It’s just a crime he’s not even mentioned in any trophy talks. Only Ullmark has slightly better numbers but he has the Bruins playin in front of him. Great video as always! Love your honesty and that cover every team!

  7. you are missing the main reasons and details behind the wild trading talbot. the biggest perhaps was talbots wife complaining about how he was treated by the wild in the playoffs last year and that didnt sit well with the gm bill guerin as it was made public and guerin is a huge locker room chemistry guy (hence the buyouts of parise and suter creating the cap hell) and the contract and difference in how much each guy made with the wild in cap hell played a very important part too

  8. the sens got fleeced, Talbot is crap and is basically finished as a nhl goalie while Gustavsson is just starting his nhl career. And it does NOT hold up to try and paint the team as the reason he's doing well as Fleury is NOT even close….
And the development curve for a goalie at 22-25 is VERY sharp and he can take of at any time during that age.

  9. These goalies numbers this season compared to last has more to do with the fact that the wild have a way better defensive team and systems than the sens than either of their skills/age

  10. A team rebuilding on the fly got to trade an aging goaltender who cost $3.7 million for a goalie 10 years younger and much cheaper with NHL experience and upside. Even if Gustavsson was pretty meh this year, it was always going to be a good gamble.

  11. … also remember who they have in the AHL, you may have heard of him, goes by the name "Jesper Wallstedt"…

  12. It's almost like defense is more important and there's only like 2 goalies in the world that can carry a bad defense. The Avs just won a cup with a washed Kuemper and Pavel Francouz ffs. Just don't tell your local Oiler or Leafs fan, they still don't understand that there's more to hockey than staring at a points sheet and hoping they get a Shesterskin

  13. Gus Bus is a sturdy goaltender. The defense is also sturdy, but has had to rely on Gus pretty heavily at times. He always answers the bell and with Fleury heating up too there's no excuse for Minnesota. Win a series at LEAST.

  14. I still don't know how a bad trade turned into a fleece . guess maybe gotta be patient with young goalies it's just crazy how good this trade looks for the wild 😂😂😂

  15. My expectation was he'd be a okay # 2 goalie until jesper was ready to be called up by the wild but now looks like they could be the goalie duo once flower retires while is great considering Talbot wanted out . Billy g gotta be exec of the year imo

  16. Gustavsson looks great and seems to have won the starting job in Minnesota. He doesn't have a track record but is only 24 and up till now has only looked good when he played in Sweden
Ottawa was trading for the more experienced Talbot at age 35 who does seem to be physically breaking down. He did have a very good track record.
Talbot was moved out to placate Fleury and help the Wild cap problems.

There is no track record for Gustavsson in North America.

Minnesota is actually pretty middle of the road defensively this year maybe 14th or 15th and Gustavsson has been great at that, way better than Fleury (.909). it will be interesting to see what happens when he starts making the majority of the starts and if/when he starts in the playoffs. Great story for him and the Wild who need cheaper quality goaltending. Wonder what happens is and when fleury starts to sulk again.
Ottawa meanwhile is like 21st in shots against. They have been just bottom third in the league defensively so yeah goalies have struggled behind this D corp.

  17. legorocks, always great content, I subscribed to your channel, I hope your channel grows to 1 million soon! 😀

  18. The best April fools joke trade I've seen was jakub verrana for a 7th round pick! like some of these guys just can't seem to base their jokes in any sort of reality I swear.

  19. A bit of the backstory is wrong. You're giving the wild a bit more credit than they deserve. The wild didn't necessarily look at gus as real promising prospect. Last year, Talbot was upset about the goalie rotation, or lack thereof in the playoffs. His agent reportedly aggressively aproached wild gm BG fuming on the subject and BG had no time for the drama. He said publicly if a player such as talbot is unhappy in their role (implying they are locker room threat) he will quickly cut ties – and thats exactly what he did. He moved talbot for as fair of a deal as he could get almost immediately following the agent altercation.

Initially, it looked like a significant downgrade for the sake of the locker room – similar to the parise suter moves. Gus has since suprised everyone, especially BG which he isnt shy to admit, and has become the #1 guy with flower still playing great beside him.

The wild have the #1 goalie prospect and gus was never really in the plans, however, he has been fantastic, and has quickly put everyone on notice.

  20. Pretty much what all of us in Minnesota said when the trade was made and now we can't believe that we robbed Ottawa like that. Gus bus has been fantastic and has stolen a few games for us. Had back to back shutouts against the Flames but the Wild lost the second game in the shootout.

  21. The Wild have not won anything yet!I root for the Wild all the time!Though I live in the Chicago area! The playoffs are a Grind,we will see!

  22. Let’s not forget gm bill Guerin drafted the gus bus in 2016. So he knew exactly who he was. And I’m sure also felt his style would work exponentially better with Minnesota’s defense
