I’ll never forget, it was late March, and I said, “y’know, I have this feeling this is it, and they’re going to retire. I should snag tickets to the last home game while I still can.”
Called up group sales and got me and 12 friends tickets in the 300 level at $35/ticket — REMEMBER, team was god awful in that season.
Sure enough, not a week goes by and they announce their retirement. Tickets were going for like $350-500 in the 300 section to be there. Could’ve made a fortune, but instead went to one of the best live games of hockey that I think I’ll ever witness. The comeback, the OT-winning play. Just a storybook ending on home ice in an otherwise horrendous season. FOR $35!

Buddies and I were deciding what home game to go to of the 3 or so that were left. One buddy has a friend internal to the org at the time who slyly tells us to go to the last one. Buy tickets for 50USD a pop.
HOURS LATER this news comes out and our nosebleeds are worth hundreds of dollars each
Was an awesome experience to be a part of their sendoff
