Recap of Wild vs Avalanche March 29th NHL Game

That ends tonight’s action. These teams could meet again in the playoffs and I am fine with that.

  1. It’s a routine thing on national broadcast…. Even when the Wild are winning, they are always cheering for the other team and minimizing what MN is doing.

Good news, Minnesotans are used to it.

  2. Respectfully disagree with the opening statement that this game won’t give the Wild any credit/respect. Haven’t watched them much during this incredible 20 game run but they absolutely dominated the Avs, only resorting to rope a dope and holding on in final 15 minutes or so

  3. It would appear, to me at least, that Minnesota became a better team since losing Kaprizov. Before his injury he was scoring 22% of the Wild goals. Missing a player like that means everyone else has to pick it up, and they have. As an Avs fan, if these two teams meet in the playoffs, I hope Kaprizov is back. BTW, I take the Wild seriously!

  4. Hello Puckheads!
It was an 1-1-1 night for me … Dang Caps! Three fun games to watch!
    636-462-88 (57.34%) overall

  5. As a Wild fan since day one- Gus needs to be their netminder for the playoffs. Fleury is too erratic and inconsistent. If the team has another first round exit- Fleury will likely be the reason

  6. Of course there was a bias in rooting for Colorado from TNT. Also, if the Wild win the division, the banner gets split in two. Half and half between Gus and flower.

  7. people definitely sleeping on the Wild. And they have been doing a lot of this recently without Kaprisov.

  8. I was onto the Wild for months now, saying they might be a solid contender to win it all and was very excited for the march 18th gagne agaisnt Boston (they didnt quite make it but im still taking them to at least conference finals)

  9. After reviewing this game how in the world could the national media not take the Wild seriously and give them the credit they deserve? They were significantly outshot in the 3rd period because they switched to a full defense game. Other than that they clearly showed how they could take the west in the playoffs. They are only one point out from being in first of western conference. We shall see where the chips fall the after April 3rd. (pun intended)

  10. Good game. Gustavsson was fantastic. Some of the Avs top players weren't at their sharpest, but MN deserved the win. Hopefully these two will meet again in the playoffs. Go Avs!

  11. People forget the game Colorado stole up here where the Wild outshot the Ave’s 43-19, so each team probably lost a game they felt they should have won. As for Gusty, it’s how well positionally he plays with the puck sticking to him. I don’t know what’s in the water in Sweden 🇸🇪 but Wild fans will be watching Swedes for a long time with Wallstedt waiting in the wings in Iowa. Not sure what’s going to happen but MN will be a tough punch out when 97 and hopefully Nyquist ( who is skating ) come into play.

  12. Being a Wild fan I’m so use to national broadcasts always ignoring the Wild and or talking about other games entirely. Nobody around the nhl seems to take them serious… really hoping to make some noise this playoffs. Minnesota fans need it

  13. Minnesota Wild competed and beat the Avs even with the Refs being one sided! Very impressive win and also a HUGE Must win IMO for the #1 spot.

  14. No one in Hockey states wanted to stay up till Midnight to watch the game. But no one on the West Coast has a job, so they could watch. NHL is smart.

  15. Credit to the Wild for outworking the Avs in the first two periods. The Avs pushed hard in the third, but the top line was atrocious. Mackinnon, Rantanen and Nichushkin were out of sync the whole night. Their puck management was really poor. Makar was just godawful. He was so off tonight that I thought he was doing his best impression of Girard. Girard's inconsistency popped up again which infuriates Avs fans. This is a tough loss that can cost them on winning the division

  16. It always feels like national broadcasters are rooting against my Minnesota teams, no matter the sport

  17. It feels like whenever Minnesota is on national broadcast the last couple seasons…they are always "seemingly" cheered against. Its really bad when they play St Louis.

  18. Wild will likely never get any respect, let alone anything they deserve. I cannot stand TNT or any "national" tv games. Commentators always have favorites and the coverage is never that great. Mute with radio. Btw, has there been a better team in the last 21 games? You know… the games that matter leading into the playoffs? I don't think so. What matters is that the Wild are very sound defensively, goaltending tandem is top notch, and they are winning. All this to say, Minne teams don't perform in the playoffs. Just the way it is. I will consider it a win if they get past the first round. Two rounds?! That would be cool too!

  19. Such a great game played by the wild in the first 2 periods. I have been preaching that you cannot play to protect a lead against the AVS they will catch you, I really wanted to see them attach aggressively in the third but they couldn't get going. But overall this was a great win for MN, and I hope they can keep this crazy point steak alive to win the division. Thanks Shannon for all you do!

  20. Getting rid of the delay of game penalty is literally the worst comment you've ever made since I started watching. I remember defensive players simply flipping pucks over the glass over and over again, ruining offensive flow. Horrible idea.

  21. The Wild have been playing great. I thought they'd be in trouble without Kaprizov, but they just keep winning games. That being said, they will be judged in the playoffs. I'm an Avs fans and if the Avs can't win it, I'd love to see the Wild win the cup. The long-suffering fanbase in Minnesota deserves it.

  22. This is about as close to a high pressure playoff game as you can get and Gustavsson looked really good. I'd be shocked if he's not in goal game 1 of playoffs.

  23. Minnesota was the better team. They just played defensively in the third knowing they had a 2 goal lead. You can’t play that way against the Avalanche or the Bruins they will capitalize. So stoked that Gustafson is the dark horse for the playoffs, I hope Fleury and him alternate games to stay healthy.

  24. Just you. I was watching and my wife asked why I was watching the Minnesota broadcast because the commenters wouldn’t shut up about the Wild. Suprised they noticed Byram score in between talking about all the Wilds injuries

  25. I was thinking the exact same thing they were all over all the great things the avs were doing I kept having to remind myself the wild were actually winning the game!😂

  26. 100% agree about getting rid of delay of game penalties. It should be treated the same as an icing. No penalty, but a defensive zone face off and your team can’t make a line change.

  27. I'm a big Wild fan… I had no issues with the TNT crew. I actually enjoy the games they do for us. Jonesy has always been one of my favorites, so if he seemed to be pulling for the Avs, I'm not bothered.

  28. I genuinely don’t know how to feel about this game. The Wild were shutting down all our stars the first period which was too long and we fell behind. It wasn’t until Bednar made adjustments that I saw improvements, but the adjustments weren’t good enough to crack the code of Gustav who legit won them that game. Wild was the better team this game, but playoff series are made up of 7. So, we will see.
