The news wasn't a surprise, but I don't think it was just a random announcement. I wonder if there is a rule or something with the league that if a team announces before a certain date that a player is out for the year, it triggers some extra cap money or something? I agree with Hurt Locker, I think another transaction is coming soon. Best of luck to Jake and his family. He had a solid career, if it is over.
This was kept quiet for quite sometime which they don't want it to be a distraction that could ruin their quest of not going further in the playoffs. He may never have a full hockey career which by the time he joined the leafs he was starting to fit in before this injury may be the end of the road for him.
Orlov would be a great replacement…moves the puck like Sandin, hits like Roman Polak

We have 2 of the most over rated overpaid dmen in Reilly and Muzzin. That is what was holding us back the last couple of seasons. What if we had 2 other dmen wit 12 mil salary together instead of these 2 the last couple of years. What 2 d men could we have had for 12 mil total salary per year?
