Hope you’re well Gil—we’d all take this situation in general but the fact is, unless we’re crazy lucky—we can’t win A Cup. These two games proved we will get bounced. I’ve never in all my years of watching Hockey—did I ever see a team get “Hemmed, penned and dominated” so baldly in their own zone. It’s happened so often. They would relish playing us—we can’t get out of our own zone. Me? I’d hang someone past the blue line (ala Kucherov) and burn them that way—and until they stop—I’d keep doing it. Does it matter? We’re already playing shorthand against Canes as is. ——————-I Love Bo but he can’t generate nor create—this has been a rude awakening for him—I wonder if he knows now what he knows—-would he have signed? That’s a boatload of $$$ for two players that need each other to produce 70-75 points each. I look forward to your show Gil——deflated I am. Nelson is not the same with the birdcage——man Mayfield is really gassed. Dobson still thinks it’s Christmas—should put a ribbon on those passes. Can we make a run, if we get in? Only if the Hockey Gods align with each other. Some say we played well against Tampa—not playoff well. Bottom line? For our Isles to make a run-gotta go full throttle and that’s taxing. Canes ran out of gas last year against the Rags—aside from 3rd stringer-they don’t have enough either-but like this? They will hand our asses to us. Lou? His usual condescending ways on April fools day like the “Joke is in us”! Isles need serious hockey owners—-not developmental real estate gurus—-Lou is a snowman—a genuine all time snowman. Take care Gil—looking forward!!
Another lost weekend. Pens win and are point back. Fla. has their game in hand and can tie isles and have more wins. Even sabres aren't done yet with two games in hand. Buff. wins those they can tie isles. Un believable isles still can't wrap up a playoff spot with four games left. Lane will take the fall if they blow playoff spot this late in typical lou fashion.
And take a good look at isles future if they do get in. Canes outshot isles and held them to 21 shots and one goal. Canes play shut down hockey so unlike pens isles can't expose a team that plays d better than they do. Or b's and this isn't the b's one line team with banged up d and goalie on one leg isles exposed and beat in '21.
And effort alone can't make up for the lack of scoring. Look at tb game. After two periods isles had 31 shots 0 goals. tb, 21 shots four goals on a vezina candidate. Isles get 38 shots total yet 0 goals. tb, five goals on 31 shots meaning tb scored every six shots. Isles get 38 shots and can't score. If that doesn't tell the true story then i don't know what does. Anyone thinking isles can make a run with that prehistoric offense is nuts. Teams don't even have to game plan isle offense cause they have no one an opponent has to account for. Outside of the five goal 'explosion' vs. nj isles have scored 0, 1, 0 and one goal in four games. Their offense only clicks when brock scores a few. And bo is really trending down thanks to being stuck with such sub par linemates. And yes i know barzal will help despite the eyesore at other wing. Bo was shielded by petterson and had hughes to dish the puck in van. and has always been better suited for second line duty. Even with knights bo was their second line c behind domi.
So to he-ll with lou's 23 guys that do the little things and the right things. They do everything but score. And once again 2.7 gpg aint gonna cut it no matter how many lou engval types he brings in. And isles wont have the trotz magic behind the bench in the playoffs-if they get there-in the playoffs. And pens finish with hawks and clb giving pens an easy 4 pts. and one playoff spot. Lou can only hope isles find lightning in a bottle to duplicate those two playoff runs. I'm just fkn tired of watching this fkn inept offense game after game season after season.
