BOSTON, MA — Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron received 5 stitches in his right ear after getting cross checked in the head on Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bergeron took a crosscheck to the ear from the Jackets’ Lane Pederson. Bergeron was later avenged when Trent Frederic took on Pederson and took him out with a single punch.
“We always say that we’re there for one another,” Bergeron said. “Obviously it means a lot for him [Frederic] to do that after that play.”

Yes a high cross check but Bergy’s own stick and gloves did the damage. They were driven into his face and ear.That’s why they called only two minutes.
There's no doubt in my mind that teams playing the Bruins now are looking to hurt them to diminish their chances of winning the cup.

That was a dirty crosscheck, but it was Bergy's own stick that hit is ear. Should have been a double minor.
