Yeah he’s an NHL goalie but he far from one of the best in the show. He’s mid at best compared to his peers. Note to mention those cups he won were won on MAF back.

How is the best goalie in the league when he can’t start more then 40 games a year. He went 47 games in 164 games with Ottawa ya that’s great numbers

Samsonov is our starting goalie & hes better in the net Murray has never been the same after Pittsburgh hes shaky and plays to much out the net and gets hurt to much praying he can stay healthy to backup Sammy in the playoffs if we plan to go deep
He’s not the best in the NHL, wouldn’t even say top 5 right now. He got a good set up in Pitt with backing up Fluery for 2 years and a stacked team. You could see his weaknesses even when winning 2 cups. Once he was the starter he was good, not great. Then was always injured and had a very tough time winning. He’s looking good again in TO because they’re another very strong team in front to reduce the quality shots he faces in a game.

One thing I can’t stand is when I tell people Murray is my favorite goalie of all time and they look at me like I’m crazy, he’s a great goalie to watch and he’s incredibly talented. Heck I even bought a set of Vaughn slr 2 gear just like he had in Pittsburgh just bc I wanted to look like him. Bottom line is he needs more respect cuz he’s a great goalie in this league
he is not even top 10 in the league. he would be a 3rd string on the Bruins for example.
I have him and Samsonov on my fantasy team and Samsonov is definitely the starter now.

Matt Murray is an average goalie on a good team (Pens/Leafs) Martin Jones was the better goaltender during the 2016 Stanley Cup Run and it wasn’t particularly close. The Penguins we’re a buzzsaw, and would have won with anyone in net those couple years. The title should state why he’s YOUR favorite NHL goalie which is great! Murray is technically sound, and has a tall frame that overcompensates for his lack of twitch reaction. No offense to Murray, but he’s not even in the top half of the league as far as Goaltenders go. There’s a reason the Pens/Sens traded him. He’s struggled a bit. You know who’s been better since he got traded from the Pens? Marc Andre Fleury who’s also 10 years his senior. That’s incredible!
