[Priyanta Emrith] Nick Suzuki on Sean Monahan: “I’ve been talking to him a lot lately and he just wants to come back have a good summer. He knows he can be a really good player and hopefully a team can see that too.”

I wouldn’t mind bringing him back on a decent contract

I know it feels like forever ago but the team was completely different with Monahan in the lineup. (Granted, there were a lot less injured players then, so it wasn’t only him, but I feel like Monahan had a particularly large impact.)

2×3 is the most i would do. Gives us an option to sell at either deadline if he’s healthy. wouldn’t hamper us long term

at this point, if we miss out on Bedard/Fantilli and Hughes decides to wait out the Jets for PLD, Monahan would be an okay contingency plan. Hard to see him staying healthy though.

Hmmmm the captain saying that, It means something.

  6. I’d bring him back on a one year if they don’t plan on getting PLD early. Good stop gap on the wing and he could get a good pick at the deadline if he could stay healthy.

He’s a great player but can’t be signed to a substantial contract because he’ll certainly miss a big chunk of games. You can’t plan on having him be as big a part of the roster as his talent would allow.

2×2 is about as much as we could risk on him imo.

Pass. He seems like a nice guy, but he barely played a quarter of the season for us, and is held together by bandaids and hockey tape. I have little faith that he’ll be consistently healthy next season.

On top of that, we don’t really need him. We’ve got Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak and Evans as centres already, and the potential of our 1st round pick and/or Dubois joining the team next season as well. I’d rather be developing someone like Dach or Bedard/Fantilli/Smith as a centre rather than letting Monahan clog a roster spot in what is likely another losing season.

I just don’t see the benefit of bringing him back beyond it being a feel good story.

I’d like to see us keep him around another season. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but if he’s able to stay healthy he’s a real valuable asset. Given that his contract is up and his injury history, I think he could be fit into the top 6 on a cheaper 1 or 2 year contract.

Toronto will end up signing him, he’ll be healthy all year and kill us 4 times a year for the next 3 seasons. Book it.

When Monahan was healthy he played well.

Hopefully he will be ready for next season. It is wild how many players got the injury bug this season. Same happened last year …

I’m a huge Sean Monahab supporter, but he’s gotta stay healthy. His future is a big question mark.

Sad to be snake bitten with injuries in your prime years and it’s going to cost him a few dollars but I’m sure someone will pick him up for a 1 year deal and it’s possibly us.
