Detroit Red Wings Jake Walman earned his stripes on 2/27/2023.

One of the very few shining moments, hell prolly one of the only ones was Walman vs the Sens in a embarrassing loss on 2/27/23. Him and Seider was the only players on the team with a + point night. At the end of the season he was gonna be a unrestricted free agent.

-7 credited block shots
-Was taking hits to make a play/clear a zone
-Lots of stick deflects and defensive plays.
-Him and Seider finished both with a +1. Doesn’t sound great, but if you watched the game you would see why it was “great” ahah.
-He was signed to a 3 year deal the very next day and went on to block more shots.

  1. How about that dangle last night too? He and Seider elevate each other so much

  2. And this is why they signed him to an extension, and let Hronek go.
    And then Bert
    And Vrana
    And Sundquist.
And Stevie has a butt load of draft picks now.

In the Yzerplan we believe 👍🏒🥅🐙

  3. Honestly, I'd rather see the wings act like they're not hurt and continue playing as opposed to over selling a hit

  4. Honestly, this game made me hate the Senators. Dude took how many pucks, was how beat up? And now you're taking runs at the dude? Like any true hockey fan, any fan of the sport that plays, maybe not at a pro level, you would excuse Walman for cross-checking the next Senator that runs him, square in the teeth.

I am a hockey player, and I dunno about everyone else, but I definitely don't take runs at a guy like, because it comes off as intent to injure. I officiated in a contact league, and if I saw anything like this, especially when the hit was late, and deliberately seeking to 'send a message' or to take that player out… Well… The first one was a guaranteed interference. If I saw it again, I added 2 for roughing for the intent to injure, and warned the coach a game misconduct was coming for the next late hit on said guy. If the message didn't get through, it was a 5 and a game misconduct.

I love Jake Walman. Props to him for being full of heart, soul, and being willing to give his body for the team. After this game, I wished I was on the ice for these intent-to-injure hits, because I'd be the guy that put my stick in their teeth, so zero respect for the Senators.

  5. Wow, never realized what a bunch of pricks the Senators are. Targeting an injured player with unnecessary hits, even from behind.
