Descent Disciples ||Vol 12|| nationsnumber1beast

After a yearlong hiatus Descent Disciples is back with a bang. One of the best bike racers in the country, Cory Williams, graces the series with his presence. Shortly after completing the SoCal triple crown – winning the road, criterium, and time trial titles, he had the energy for one last push before shutting his 2021 season down. Cory lead me down Glendora Mountain Road on the east side of LA. This is a descent he knows like the back of his hand and it shows. He has put in hundreds of hours of training here and has a formidable KOM time on the descent. We came within 10 seconds of that time which is extremely impressive considering he was working into a headwind, pushing out a normalized power number of 303 after a huge block of racing.

  1. he is in so great shape wow . i am nothing vs him he is incredible its awesome to whatch that crazy its danger all the time

  2. Я так и думал, что машины едут медленнее по такой извилистой дороге. Браво оператору, снято как со штатива!

  3. That's why I love racing bikes.
    Lightness and felling of speed, freedom, flying

  4. Why do these riders size down on their frames? Look at all the clearance he has when he stands up. Do they like the look of the seat post sticking up like that or are they just trying to save grams? Genuine question.

  5. Learned a new technique of using your legs to turn! If I had known sooner, could have prevented some of my scars 😅

  6. meh tom was 20x better form. Utah has the best descenders. This is amateur level there. You'll see dudes maxing out their tires with the down of downforce they produce.

  7. He's just at one with his bike… pro-level handling and some parts just got me flinching, especially when he took the car…. nerves of steel, confidence and skill. Not everyone has it. I've gone 63kph on a mountain down before sharp hair pins and didn't dare push it more. Not when you're unfamiliar with the route, and traffic. So I really hand it to these two excellent cyclists – you really have to traverse across the entire width of the road as you lean into the corner to take the turn, and the thought of a car showing up on the other side is just….. not worth it.

    Keep safe, cos one twitch is all it takes. I don't wish to ride in such manner I risk limb and life for speed. Wanna get home safe to family and to be able to live to ride another day for as many years the body is able. The pros taking on over 100km on those long mountain downs….. I'm just shaking my head in awe. Just mindset, nerve, skill, and confidence.

    Kudos on an exceptional descent.
