Olli Juolevi

I’m back with more asinine suggestions to be batted down left, right, and center by everyone here.

We all know the defense sucks and that it’ll take awhile before we have a legit defense that’s capable of hanging around in the playoffs. I think with some tweaks to the system we could be better, not much better but a little better.

Anyways, not saying this player would fix the system, or even be the best fit. I’m thinking that [Olli Juolevi](https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/196391/olli-juolevi) could be another low risk/high reward type player. Former 5th OA in 2016, for some reason he’s never stuck around anywhere. Which I have honestly no idea why that is. I mean, is he banging everyone’s wives or girlfriends? Playing shit music in the locker room? Making too loud of chewing noises when eating? Who fucking knows. He probably just sucks.

Either way, he could be a guy we could take a flyer on and see if we can turn him around and then flip him at the deadline next year. The left side is already logjammed, sure, with Krug, Leddy, Tucker, Rosen, and Perunovich so I highly doubt this happens. But he’d be cheap and like I said, if he starts to perform as a capable D-Man could be someone we could flip for future assets at the deadline next year.

Thoughts?

Because he sucks. He couldn’t even break into Vancouver’s terrible defense when they were especially terrible a few years ago.

I like the attributes he has of escaping trouble and being good at moving the puck. Good skater and able to recover with good back checking is also nice. These are characteristics we have a deficit in amongst the current core. It wouldn’t cost much, so it seems like a training camp audition if nothing else.

Why not give him a training camp tryout I guess
