2022 World Juniors | U.S. Downs Switzerland 7-1



Carter Mazur scored twice and six U.S. players were credited with multi-point games en route to Team USA improving to 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) with a 7-1 win over Switzerland in the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.

“I’m happy about the way we stuck with our game plan,” said Nate Leaman, head coach of the U.S. National Junior Team. “We took our game to the next level in the second period and came out with a good win.”

  1. When are the tournament organizers going to learn that 7-1 scores and similar types of blowouts are boring as hell? It's time that this annual event was re-imagined.
    Germany, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Latvia and any other of the weaker hockey nations could form all star teams among themselves and incorporate a draft of all late cuts from the hockey powers.
    Then we would truly see all of the best juniors in the world with the interest level ratcheted up to a level not witnessed before.

  2. In these tourements Switzerland often beats one of the top five teams, so good for team USA to easily beat them.

  3. I’m so glad we’re not wearing what we wore at the Olympics anymore. Those were so lame and uninspiring.
