What if the Habs Pick 5th?

OK Guys, in today’s video, I give my 3 choices for a 5th overall pick at the upcoming 2023 NHL Entry Draft. From the Habs perspective, ofcourse! There are lots of talented names on the list, from Connor Bedard to Adam Fantilli. But who will be most likely available by the time pick #5 rolls around? Lets take a look!

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. i hope we take benson if michkov is available or anybody under that is available take it if not i want us to take benson i like him way more than will smith honest he'd be a great fit

  2. We will have the patience for Michcov because of having those 2 picks versus other teams 1.

  3. Dalibor Dvorsky is from Slovakia. I wonder if the Habs might want to draft him, simply because he will go well with Mesar and Slafkovsky?

  4. I don't want to take a chance on Michkov. Drafting Michkov is no different than drafting Kotkaniemi over Tkachuk.

  5. 20 points in 27 games as a 17-18 year old in the second best league is absolutely nuts. Might be inflated due to HK Sochi being the worst team in the league by a mile, but could also be deflated because he only averages 15 minutes a game(9th on Sochi). He will also get to play for his parent club SKA where he will play with more talent around him and hopefully have an even bigger increase in production. I'm really high on him, and I think he would be compared with Bedard if it wasn't for the whole Russia situation and his KHL contract. But at the same time, the contract might be good for Montreal as it should keep teams like Chicago, Colombus, and Anaheim away, while giving time for Michkov to play in Russia. If we do end up picking someone else, I understand, but missing out on Michkov might be like Sacramento missing out on Luca

  6. Can't count out Dvorsky, the Slovakian connection between him, Slaf and Mesar could be a nasty line in the future

  7. I think the top 6 guys in this draft could have been first overall picks in the 2022,2021 drafts. Will Smith and Zach Benson are just way too dynamic to pass up on.

  8. I know we probably won’t slip to below top 5 but if that’s the case I think Dalibor Dvorsky will be sneaky good. He was great in the World Juniors and how crazy would it be to have him united with Slaf and Mesar

  9. Jeezus you're awesome. Always make me smile and laugh. And we agree on pretty much everything. You remind me of my friend who happens to have a May 15th birthday.

  10. In case you’re not following the geopolitics, Putin is in the process of putin (pun intended) the iron shades back up in the bad ol’ USSR. Which means the only way outta the country for Russian nationals is via a Cold War-style defection. Add to that Michkov’s other, ahem, draft considerations, the odds of him ever being available to lace up the blades for anybody other than the Red Army is pretty much ZERO. So don’t be surprised to see him fall out of the top 10, maybe even the entire 1st round.

  11. I have the same birthday as will smith and I’m a habs fan so that was a solidifying factor for me on him

  12. I get the feeling that unless we get one of the big 4, they'll go with David Reinbacher. I know we have a lot of defense prospects, but not the hardest kind to get your hands on: a right handed, first pair defenseman. There's a lot of rumors about the habs being very high on him. If Habs don't select him, I'm still 99% sure he goes in the top ten.

  13. I think if Chicago falls out of the top 2 they take Michkov. They are in for a long rebuild and can easily wait, anyone else could be scared off at 3,4 or even 5. Also if Montreal finishes 5th last, they are most likely to pick 6th, as the combine odds of all the teams out of the bottom 5 are better than any individual team in the bottom 5. Just food for thought!

  14. No playing Cole might've payed off!! Who cares about development of a great young player! Has been franchise!

  15. I dont see Michkov going past 4 but I would be delighted to get him even if he doesnt play until 2-3 years. It took the same time for many of the top players in the league to play their first game, even top 5-10 picks, I dont see why its such a big deal when it comes to Michkov. I get the war and all that but with his talent theres no way he doesnt play in the NHL, hes gonna dominate as soon as he gets there. If we get #5 Id like Benson.
