Goaltender Devon Levi has been the long awaited prospect for the Buffalo Sabres. With a 3-2 OT win against the New York Rangers.. Devon Levi was brilliant.. but what stood out was his mental approach to the game. fighting for their NHL playoff lives.. we break down what this means for the Sabres & how Devon Levi can help them go on a run.

  1. Slow down at the 1:15 mark with the point blank shot and watch his head movements tracking the puck and then ATTACKING the shooter, he went from the red line in the crease to outside of it in a blink of an eye! Insane! If you really watch closely, he doesn't even look at the shooter, he looks only at the puck and the shooter's stick. Make all the cute leg kicks, head takes and it won't matter cause the puck is all that matters, he doesnt stop the shooter, he stops the shot, Kuznetzov couldn't pull that BS move and score on Levi the way he watches the puck!

  2. I need any team but Isles, I hate that boring style of hockey, yeah it wins games but that's not playoff style of hockey to me. Hated it with h Devils and hate it still. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!

  3. this kid was selected for canada's world junior team in 2021 not expected to start. he ended up doing just that and was unbelievable all tournament. the only reason hes still an "out of left field" goalie is because canada lost to USA in the gold medal game. Spencer knight was the american goalie and he shut out the canadians in a 2-0 victory. Levi and Knight were both drafted by the panthers in the same year.

  4. It's the goalie equivalent of wanting the ball with the clock ticking down to take that game-winning shot

  5. Cant believe he is rocking my number I used in junior b. Born on the 27th just became a fan of this dude. For ever goalie life.

  6. You say the last spot The Islanders have not secured that spot yet a lot of games in hand and they have a tough schedule

  7. I mean, I think this is missed by a lot of players and people. Goalies want to get hit with pucks. It's literally why we play the position

  8. i thought he was going to be great when he played for team canada, why in gods name did flordia trade him?

  9. Come on. Why, florida just had to trade another prospect goalie that will probab;y end up as a very good one for bufallo for a good but unneeded player. We are cursed

  10. I'd love to see the Sabres in the playoffs. I think tonight game against Florida will be the deciding factor. If they lose it's over.

  11. As a Rangers fan who wanted the Rangers to obviously win, I'm more happy that buffalo won and gave the rookie his first NHL win, dude looked really good for his first game, can't wait to see more of him in the future.

  12. Dude was awesome. I'm a hardcore Avs Fan since the Quebec Nordiques days and our rival was Buffalo in the Adams. I am secretly a Sabres Fan because they are so f'n exciting to watch right now. Would love to see them make it🙏🏻

  13. Before that rangers game I placed $20 on the sabres making the playoffs at +2000 odds. $400 payout.

  14. I think Florida has the best shot at sneaking into the playoffs. Unfortunately, Buffalo's remaining schedule is brutal and it's going to be very, very difficult for them to sneak in. They basically have to win out and I don't see that happening. Not to mention, they need help from Pittsburgh too.

  15. Patience in hockey is such a great asset, but it's hard to do when the play is moving quickly, especially for a goalie, it's hard to stay calm when things are flying around you, the timing is everything, anticipation is key.

  16. The only thing I disagree with is the part about the best example of a confident goalie making his team better. The best example is and always will be Patrick Roy. He willed the Habs to two cups they would have otherwise had no business winning, then went to Colorado and backstopped the Avs to two more Cups. I'll never forget Roy winking at Tomas Sandstrom after stoning him in game 4. They should have just given him the Conn Smythe immediately after that, because for all intents and purposes, the series was over.

  17. lol looks like his meditation between the hash marks is a ploy to keep extra snow in front of the net 2:37.

I'm a goalie, so I'm well aware of the advantage of snowy ice

  18. i’m a rangers fan, so this was an annoying loss. but it was hard for me not to simultaneously root for him. i love an underdog story so i’d like to see the sabres make the playoffs

  19. As a sabres fan. When I saw he was in the Reinhart deal I was stoked. But when it comes to today and making the playoffs. It's not over until we make it or don't. And I sure hope we do but we won't know until then. GO SABRES.

  20. I remember watching Levi play for Team Canada in the U-18 world championship. He started as back up and took over as top goal tender and brought an under dog Team Canada to the final in overtime. He was absolutely lights out in that tournament and I knew he would make the show one day. Confident in him to be a starter in the NHL as soon as next year.

  21. Levi was great again tonight. Save %.942 in 2 games in absurd. Sabres can get some defenseman that are actually good we will have a chance next year.

  22. He played great last night love this kid! wish the boys pulled the dub out but, we r young and its nice to see hockey like this haven't seen it in forever.

  23. Levi sells cartoon balloons in town, he calls his child Jesus ….lyrics were changed to protect copyright infringement 😂😂😂
