Isn't it kinda pathetic that the US is just now "catching up" though? The population in California alone is higher than that of the entire country of Canada 😆 yet we can't pull more talent than them?
Until Hockey Canada finds a way to make minor hockey less expensive, the elite talent pool will shrink and it will make it harder for Canada to produce the depth they used to, especially at defense and goalie. More high end Canadians will jump ship for the NCAA route, going through the USHL. CHL will always be strong but it’s a hard shorter development curve that is tough if you don’t score. Not enough old school Canadian toughness in minor and junior hockey anymore.

Gretzky even said the US would soon eclipse Canada in hockey simply due to the size of its population.

Canada has more outdoor rinks then any country in the world. Most likely why more skill comes from there

Canada beats the US in everything except Goaltending, which scares me because some of these US and Russian Goalies can stand on their heads.

Bedard and most of the top end draft picks this year says otherwise

America does have better goalies. Canada has had trouble producing good goalies since Price. Forwards and D still better tho.
