Luckily for the Sabres Ryan Johnson was a 1st round draft pick. So either way the Sabres will either get another singed defensive prospect or a 2024 2nd round compensatory draft pick.
If Ryan Johnson does sign the Sabres should give him every opportunity to make the Sabres big league roster.
Totally agree with you Wayne the Mane about bringing in a veteran defenseman. In Grigs the Sabres should consider bringing him back on another 1 or 2 year contract.
I think the really good player development of the Sabres org. is a plus.
Ryan Johnson would be such a good pair with Owen Power as a steady presence next to him. I really hope he signs, but glad that Buffalo would still get compensatory picks if he doesn't.

If he signs, great. He can replace Bryson in buffalo. Or find a home in Roch for a year or two. The bigger need is finding another Samuelsson-type dman. Someone to slot in with Power, like Samuelsson does with Dahlin. If Johnson doesn't sign, oh well, we get a late 2nd rounder out of it.
If he snubbs us, I hope he falls into a vat of monkey piss. Not sure why somebody would be storing monkey piss but hey, just go with it.

Well, the rules say that RJ won't be a UFA until August 15th or so.. so Adams has at bit of time. Getting him signed could set our blue line for a while.. with Dahlin, Power, Samualsson, RJ… that's a pretty good sounding core.. add in Lybushkin and another… that gritty guy you talk about.. pretty fine top 6 right there.
Yes, we do need a steady veteran defenseman and some toughness up front. Hope Johnson signs.
I said over a month ago RJ will be locked up as soon as his season is over. Everything is still on course for that to be true. But until pen is to paper, I guess you never can tell.

Hope he signs and then he can replace Jokiharju or Bryson but the more urgent need is to get a stay at home veteran D man to partner Owen Power like you said Wayne. UFA D men this summer include Gudas FLA , Mayfield NYI, Gavrikov LA Soucy Sea , Dumba Minn or Holl Tor. Or trade Bryson or Jokiharju for maybe ex Sabres Will Borgen Sea or Josh Brown Arizona.

I think this is the perfect opportunity for Johnson. He has the chance to come to a team in desperate need of defense and he can really make a name for himself.

To quote Jost, and Stillman when they got traded to Buffalo. They both said "This team has no egos", which made it very easy to come into the locker room. That has to be a huge boost to anyone looking at joining the Sabres. I think he will sign, I have heard it a lot the past 3 weeks and from highly touted names in the industry.
